I hope these two questions help start the ball rolling, Charles:
is there more than one type or level of autism?
Is there any thing else that seems a similar to, but is not actually, autism?

Thanks. I actually do know the answer to the first question. Since autism is a spectrum, there are as many types as there are people. Everyone who is autistic is different in some way. I think ADD and ADHD are similar and sometimes connected to autism too.

I liked your comment, Charles, since our son was diagnosed with ADHD in second grade. We spent years learning about it and figuring out ways that he could succeed. Which he did, but he still has it.

I think people don’t realize that these are pieces of a person that don’t go away.

I agree. My son was smart enough to realize the Army was a good place for him to go – lots of rules, regulations and boundaries, which is very suitable for someone with ADHD.

I wondered if that setting would with adhd. Must be different for each person.

ADHD kids thrive in setting with boundaries and rules and regulations – Patrick went a half day to a school with just this until he graduated from high school. Sports and the military were great for him.
