What do I hope for in 2024?
- Take at least one father/son trip. Be nice to do two, but the summer looks like it’s going to be rather short for me.
- That my son has fun with the rest of 9th grade and ends on a great note. Honor roll would be nice, but I know he has a lot on his plate.
- That I can start publishing The Slumberlord Chronicles at some point. I have the first 5 of 9 books written. I hope to write more of them too.
- That I can finish outlining ‘Phi Beta Files’ and start a notebook section for another of my team series. Not sure which one that will be since I have to dust off all of my old notes. Used to be able to rattle off all of my series without fail, but now I struggle to organize them in my head.
- Get the ‘Life Event’ over with and hopefully not have to deal with a lot of fallout. It’s going to be rough for a while.
- Improve my sleeping habits and really work on losing weight. I say that last part, but it feels like I do well and then backslide every time Daylight Savings Time hits in November. I’m trying to bike more often and eat better, but I seem to only make progress when I’m too stressed or ill to eat anything. That can’t be healthy.
- Buy and finish the upcoming Dungeons & Dragons Lego set. Saving up my money and discounts for that.
- Relax with more puzzle time and anime.
- Have a fun and exciting summer with the Life Skills kids. I enjoyed doing that this year for the first time and look forward to another 6 weeks of adventures.
- Continue posting on this blog . . . I really want to keep my streak going, but I’m running out of topics. Definitely out of ideas for Tuesday because teasers don’t mean anything to people. Maybe I’ll just post a random promo post with a cover and link to one of my books. Add in the blurb and it’ll be fairly simple.
- Really should work on laundry.
A worthy and doable list, Charles. Good luck!

I hope all your wishes, and then some, all come true in the bestest ways, Charles, and some special online hugs for the little one ( even though he is growing up fast, I’m sure, just like my Seth is!).

You have good plans! How exciting about Slumlord Chronicles and the Phi Beta Files. And so glad you’ll have a father-son trip. It’s so hard to believe your son is a high schooler!

The father-son trip is still iffy. The life event or an associated issue might prevent it. It’s frustrating.

I think you have the right idea, not beginning to publish Slumberlord until more of it is written. Gives you wiggle room in case delays pop up. Don’t forget to allow yourself time for revisions, too. That always trips me up.

It also gives me time to save money. A few incidents came up that I didn’t expect. Puts the father-son trip in jeopardy too.

All the best for 2024. I have a tough time blogging, because we never do anything anymore. This economy has killed us. Ideas are hard to come by, too. Guess I could try cooking something fun and sharing that. Looks like I forgot to post again yesterday.

Cooking could work. I don’t even have time for that most works. Nothing exciting and new at least. Good luck with 2024.

I love your Desmond Tutu quotation. You have a great list, Charles. Puzzles and Legos are the glue to creativity- at any age. I must have missed your ‘Life Event’. I’m glad 9th grade for your son is going well, and I’m sure you’ll enjoy the Life Skills again this summer. Best to you, Charles.

The ‘life event’ is something I can’t directly name or talk about. So there hasn’t been a post or clarification about it. All I can say is that it’s rough, not really within my control, unclear on how long it will last, and unclear on how it will end.
