I do this every year and I usually aim for later in the month, but I think I’m going to try to set the mood for the month by doing it now. This time I’m going to try to pick less obvious ones since I always do ‘Ghostbusters’ and ‘Monster Mash’. I think I’m going to save ‘Thriller’ for a special post right before Halloween too. Mostly because there is a story behind my fascination with it. Enjoy.
Charles E. Yallowitz was born, raised, and educated in New York. Then he spent a few years in Florida, realized his fear of alligators, and moved back to the Empire State. When he isn't working hard on his epic fantasy stories, Charles can be found cooking or going on whatever adventure his son has planned for the day. 'Legends of Windemere' is his first series, but it certainly won't be his last.
I have a few less obvious ones – more like squint your eyes and they are Halloween/horror. Bad Moon Rising by Creedance Clearwater Revival is one, but I also include Modest Mouse’s Float On. It isn’t Halloween at all unless every time you hear the song you think of Pennywise the Clown, which I do.
Bad Moon Rising is a good one and definitely flies under the radar. Never thought about ‘Float On’ though. Think there was too much time between the song coming out and ‘It’ getting a revival.
My favorite was Werewolves of London. Always loved that song ever since it first came out in the late seventies. It was catchy and different. Especially the subject line! Whaaa-ooo werewolves of London!
Those are some good ones. I’ve already started listening to my Halloween playlist as I commute.

Thanks. It was hard to come up with after I eliminated the usual ones.

So hard to believe it’s October already!!! Monster Mash is the first song I think of because it was tradition when I was a kid.

My mind goes to ‘Thriller’, which I have coming up later in the month.

That’s a great one. I’ve used that one a few previous years. That really is a catchy subject line. Sticks in the head.
