Ask-A-Character: Kira Grasdon in the Hot Seat #fantasy

Quest of the Brokenhearted is available for 99 cents throughout July!

Imagine my surprise when I saw I didn’t have a post for today.  Yeah, I’ll admit that I didn’t plan anything since I was focused more on the book release.  The thing is that it’s a holiday in the USA, so it’s hard to tell what blog traffic will be.  So, I’m going to attempt some audience interaction by dusting off an old blog type.

(Addition: Imagine my surprised again when another post went live right before this one.  I swear that ‘7 Tips’ post wasn’t listed on the scheduled post thing when I made sure I was set for the week.  Sorry about that.  Guess if there’s any day to get clogged and messed it then a day with low online activity is when to do it.)

With Kira Grasdon going through so many changes and now having a book to call her own, I’m sure she has a lot to say.  People may be wondering how she went from a positive-minded person to one who is borderline suicidal.  What was she thinking by going into Lacarsis?  How did she end up in that brothel tending bar and being a bouncer?  The questions keep coming even if you haven’t read the book.  Not saying you can’t ask her about this adventure though.  I would, but I already know the answers and I’ve found that the audience always come up with something I never considered.

So, Kira Grasdon is in the hot seat.  Enjoy and don’t forget to take advantage of the month long sale.

About Charles Yallowitz

Charles E. Yallowitz was born, raised, and educated in New York. Then he spent a few years in Florida, realized his fear of alligators, and moved back to the Empire State. When he isn't working hard on his epic fantasy stories, Charles can be found cooking or going on whatever adventure his son has planned for the day. 'Legends of Windemere' is his first series, but it certainly won't be his last.

  1. I’d certainly like to know what she was thinking, especially given the city’s reputation. I mean, I assume she was aware of that before she went there, yes?

    • (The questions will be answered by Kira. Looks like I forgot to put that into the post as well as missing the other one. This day is not going well.)

Kira- There wasn’t a very complicated thought process. I’m in a dark place where I don’t care if I live or die. Lacarsis had become more active and many were challenging it. I figured that I’d either meet my end there or survive with a new purpose. To be fair, the city’s reputation is only that people don’t come out. Nobody really knows what’s going on inside.

      • (I knew that from the times you’ve done these before, but still phrased my question the way I did for some reason. My only defence is that it was the middle of a hot afternoon – never good in my opinion, since I don’t handle heat well – and I’d already been up for 13 hours, having woken really early for some reason I’m still unsure of).

To kira: I guess that makes sense.

      • I hadn’t done one of these it a long time, so I didn’t know if anyone remembered the structure. Sorry about that.

  2. You speak as though life and death are the only options in Lacarsis. Aren’t you the slightest bit worried about becoming undead?

    • It doesn’t happen in Windemere as often as people think. A simple bite from a vampire doesn’t make the change because you need blood exchange. With zombies, they need to be designed as carriers or they’re just ravenous corpses. It’s the necrocasters who will revive someone and those are still humanoid. There might be one enslaved in Lacarsis, but they’d be a servant of the demonic ruler. Reviving people who challenged you in life isn’t always wise because they can regain their memory even if they’re just a skeleton.

  3. Do you ever wish you had never ventured out of your homeland? Would you change anything about your life even if you knew it might cause the end of Windmere as you know it?

I never wish that I stayed in Bor’daruk because venturing out was inevitable. If it wasn’t to train with Selenia then it would be working for the family business. Staying home was never an option for me.

The second question is tough. I would try to change how things ended with Luke. Even now, it’s hard to explain. If I was a little faster or tougher then I could have stopped what happened. That’s really it.
