Quiall made the following request:
“What about taking an individual from the news or history and having them interact with characters from your books.”
Now, I wasn’t sure what to do here because I don’t trust myself to do justice to a real person who is either living or dead. So, I was going to skip until I thought I would have some brief fun. I give you a short dialogue:
“Hi, I’m Adolf Hitler.”
“Living the dream!” Lloyd Tenay screams while rushing in to decapitate the monstrous dictator. He holds the head in one hand and takes a bow while someone throws roses at his feet. “Thank you, everyone. It was an honor to live out the dream of so many fictional characters. We all want to kill Hitler and I’m so happy to have my turn. Yes, I know there’s that rule that things are negated once you mention him, but I think we’re in the clear since this is a fictional killing. Not to mention a literary cop out, which I will remind the author cannot be undone. I call no backsies! I’d like to thank my partner, girlfriend, all of my previous victims that helped me hone my skills, the Beatles, that guy who shows up in all those movies, and the inventor of the wheel.”
.
.
.
“Don’t forget to get ready for Chasing Bedlam. We don’t have Hitler, but there’s still plenty of carnage, mayhem, and blatant nudity. As if we’d tone it down in the sequel! Mwahaha *cough* *cough* *wheeze* Anybody have a lozenge?”

Way to nail it. This was hilarious, Charles. Well done.I loved Lloyd’s thank you’s.

Awesome. Many serial killers would take a trophy. A toothbrush mustache sewn onto his cap or something. I’ve included real people in a story, and it’s fun. (Panama) I also loved the delusion of Bogart in Play it Again Sam.

True, but who would believe him? Sometimes the memories are the only trophies we need. 😁

True. I took a few days to let it sit though. Wasn’t sure I should go the Hitler route until I saw it would turn up around my next Bedlam release.
