word-cloud-11Over the next few weeks millions of mince pies, Christmas cookies, puddings and cakes will be consumed. We will also be drinking more that we usually do and there are some favourite tipples that traditionally come out at this time of year.. or find themselves into the trifle!

Today a look at the history of the mince pie, the winners in thise year’s taste test and also another seasonal favourite.. Brandy Butter.

I really would like to say that I make my own mince pies from scratch but I am afraid that like most of us I will reach out and select one of the many brands on offer from November onwards.  I personally prefer those made with buttery shortcrust pastry with a lucious fruity filling and each year there is always a survey to identify the best.
