    Outside the popular categories, I wonder how many people search that way. My high numbers were under some obscure thing like anthologies. Still, it made me feel good. Maybe you should stop paying attention more often.

    I’ve wondered that too. Sword & Sorcery got big within the last year. Even in January, I’d be on there with that overall ranking. Now I’m not that close because people noticed it and then authors flocked to it. They get very crowded, very quickly.

    I’m probably better off to avoid all knowledge of such things. I write what I enjoy, and don’t want to chase trends. I may never be that popular, but I’ll still have a good time.

    I think the author having fun with the writing is the best way to really touch a reader. Just comes through the words.

Congrats, Charles! It is exciting to see your book on top 100. I take a photo of it to remember for posterity because it changes too quickly again. Good for you!
