So, I’m still working through the paranormal thriller. It’s getting tough since I’m still learning the characters, fighting fantasy author habits, and still have a little doubt. I’m seeing that the chapters are smaller than my normal ones, but no idea if that’s a good or bad thing. Anyway, I needed to get something out of my system and I figured I’d do it here:
Magic Dragons Elves Dwarves Swords Sorcery Windemere Nyx Fizzle Drite Orcs Griffins Adventure Gods Magic Magic Magic Magic Magic Magic Magic Magic Magic Magic Magic Magic Magic Magic Magic Magic Magic Magic Magic Magic Magic Magic Magic Magic Magic Magic Magic Magic Magic Magic
Magic Magic Magic Magic Magic Magic Magic Magic Magic Magic
Magic Magic Magic Magic Magic Magic Magic Magic Magic Magic Magic “Dammit, Luke!”

LOL! Good for you for getting that out of your system. Keep going! You’re doing great!

Thanks. Though I think ‘great’ might be stretching the term right now. I’ll settle for good on the first draft.

I think this is going to be a positive move for you. It will come with its own headaches, but you’ll add tools to the old toolbox. I am cheering for you.

Thanks. It’s interesting how a genre change can be so rough. Instincts have to be held back, so it’s much slower going. For some reason, this time is a lot harder than when I’ve done it in the past.

That’s very eco-friendly Charles – no carbon footprint, only lots of moisture from the fevered brow 😀 😀 😀

Just doing my part for the environment. Though all the pollen is making it hard to breathe today, so I’m thinking it doesn’t return my helpfulness.

Ha ha! I’m glad you got that out.
I’m also glad you’re working on your thriller. I think shorter chapters are normal in thrillers since the pace is faster than other books.

Good point. I’m not used to the pace just yet, so I keep trying to make them bigger. Then I end up deleting a bunch of stuff. Still hoping to finish this by the end of next week because I really want to work on Windemere again.

Glad you’re resisting the urge to make the chapters longer.
Isn’t it cool to have another project you can leap into after this? The hard part for me is coming up with ideas, then trying to outline those ideas.

I just hope the short chapters don’t follow me to Windemere. I really want to get back to that series because I have one of the juicier books next. A lot of fun for a special pairing. That and it’s the book that has been changed the most by previous installments.

Ha! Something tells me you have magic on the brain 😉 But don’t worry, if an elf or two worm their way into your story, you can always keep them occupied with a binding spell and turn your attention elsewhere!

Have enough trouble with the character who sees a unicorn. That’s the only bit of fantasy I think I can get away with here.

You may want to chant boogata boogata boo ( lyrics from the song The Streak) as well.

I’ll listen to the song and memorize that line. 😀

Duly noted and taken as fact. Good to let out some steam when you have folks supporting you from all sides. Fantasy, Fantasy, Fantasy, Magic, Magic, Magic, ADVENTURE! I don’t feel better saying it, but I thought I’d share! LOL 😉

If you like, I can send you a riproaring sea-going fantasy. It has a hot dice game (with some magical cheating on the dice–some people are just bad, you know), ghosts, a badly burned hero who has to live with a new, not improved face, more ghosts, and some finicky sailing. I think there’s at least one zombie and attempted ghostly possession. Oh, yes, and a little smut. Did I mention the painting that the bad guy really should have left alone? Anyway, contact me and I will be delighted to send you a pdf of DEAD MAN’S HAND.

Sounds interesting. Though I don’t know when I’d get to it. I’m a really slow reader and the list just keeps growing. Like the idea of the dice game.
