I know this is coming off as gloating, but I think Amazon has a 3 list limit on a book’s actual page. So Sleeper of the Wildwood Fugue is only noted as being on Action/Adventure Romance books, Action/Adventure Romance eBooks, and Action/Adventure Fantasy ebooks. I got curious and found this:
You can see me at #86 on the Epic Fantasy eBook list. I’m #90 on the Sword & Sorcery eBook list. This post is just to show that I was there. We’ll see how long I stick around there. Be nice if these list rankings would show up on the book’s site. Again, thank you to everyone who has helped me get this far.

Way to go, Charles! 😀

Ranking high on too many lists: Some problems are good to have. 🙂 Congratulations.

True. I think I’m still having trouble getting used to the romance thing. Makes sense for this book, but it feels strange.

Way to go Charles! Maybe you’ll break the Amazon barrier! 😉 Embrace the Romance thing! It will bring more readers to your amazing series! 😀

Thanks. What’s the Amazon barrier? I just wonder if I’ll have a problem since Book 8 won’t have much romance. More humor, which I’m not sure I should pump up.

You mentioned it by not being on more than 3 best-selling lists. With book 8, you’ll have to categorize it correctly. That’s all. 🙂

I looked more into it. Seems they an only post the 3 best rankings. I’m starting to see how romance has it a little easier. Many genres are defined and locked by their settings, but romance can share the stage with all of them. It’s incredibly versatile.

It really is. I have romance as a category for my book and it really helps with the sales. So many readers classify themselves as romance readers and yet it encompasses a wide range of sub-genres.

I can only think of one other book in the series that it would work for. Unless it’s a big part of the main story or a major subplot development, I don’t think of putting it in the keywords. Though I’ve met authors that list ‘romance’ when there’s barely any in the story and others go with ‘fantasy’ when it’s really a straight romance. Personal choice, I guess.
