The poll from March 15th is done and there were a lot of characters who got a vote. Looking at the top ones, I realized that many of them have won these before and then go on to get no questions. So, I’m grabbing the ones who gained interest and am putting up multiple characters for questioning. Think of it as a panel instead of a one-on-one. Let’s begin and have some fun:
- Kira Grasdon By Kayla Matt
- By Kayla Matt
- Sari by Kayla Matt
POSSIBLE MILD SPOILERS BELOW CUT
We’re going to start off with one of the groupings that is VERY connected to the events of Sleeper of the Wildwood Fugue. The history is complicated. Luke Callindor and Kira Grasdon attended Hamilton Military Academy together. They started dating, but he had a mission and then destiny to follow. Kira comes from Bor’daruk where the tradition is to DATE multiple partners before marriage because divorce results in being exiled from the city. They were working a more watered down, dangerous version of the tradition because of the separation. In comes Sari to act as the other woman, but ends up falling for Luke herself. Now things are messy and we’re finally going to see what happens when Sari and Kira meet in person.
Needless to say, this subplot has given me a lot of grief. It’s nice to bring it to a new level and clarity in the new release. Sadly, it’s still messy, but when has Luke ever had something run smoothly? Ask anything you want of these three, but all I ask is that you be respectful. After all, we have Nyx on security and she’s gotten much better at repairing holes in walls.

Sari, what is it about Luke that you really like? What exasperates you about him?
Kira, same questions.
Luke, what do you like about Sari? Kira? What exasperates you about either?

Sari- This is going to get messy. I like how much fun Luke is. He can be rather clueless and self-sacrificing at times though.
Kira- Luke is very sweet and we have a unique understanding of each other. We make each other happy. I agree about the clueless issue.
Luke- I’m going to abstain from the second question in order to avoid getting hit. I like Sari’s energy and how she thinks on her feet. I like talking with Kira and how she makes me feel like myself. Every notice that answering that question sounds either selfish or full of blind praise?

Luke, I think the answers are a nice setup for the conflict ahead. Good luck in Bor’daruk :-D.

Luke- Thanks. Though I think we’re going to have more to deal with than our personal issues.

Sitting on this panel with the three of you present just begs the question for each. Luke if you end up with either Sari or Kira what are you going to do to make sure it is a lasting relationship? Sari and Kira what are going to do to make Luke and your relationship last if you end up together. (sounds like a Dating Game question)

Luke- Are you talking about lasting relationship with the one I stay with or a lasting friendship with the one I don’t?
Sari- I’m pretty sure he wants to know how you would make things work with the winner.
Kira- As for myself, I’d be the wife he deserves and work hard to make things last. There will be some adjusting when he isn’t adventuring. Keep in mind that I come from a people where divorce is punished with exile.
Sari- My people renew or stop a relationship after a year. We know that people change as they experience life, so we have the option of parting ways. It’s led to people following their heart, which does tend to be that they stay with their partner.
Luke- I have a bad feeling I’m out of my league. All I want is to avoid hurting people, which doesn’t seem possible.

Thank you all. I agree with Luke. Looks like the three of you are heading for a hurt closet.

Kira, what are warriors in Bor’daruk like?

Kira- Tough and used to fighting in the heat. We use curved blades and a lot of range weapons because the more dangerous creatures are best fought from afar. The more common style involves very little footwork and a focus on defense because you can’t move quickly on the sand.
