First let me just say that having images of reblogged posts added to one’s media list is a pain. Finding ANYTHING from older posts is like an epic journey that seems to end when I’m just bored and pick something from whatever is in front of me. For example, I was going for the close up shot of Nyx’s face from the Prodigy of Rainbow Tower cover. I never made it and that’s not the point of this post.
I wanted to promote two things of mine that could use some support. First is the Thunderclap campaign . . . I know this is getting ridiculous. I’m at 74 of 100 with 7 days to go. I’m sick of promoting this too since it seems to get a lot of shares, retweets, and reblogs and very few volunteers. I’m trying hard not to give up the optimism here, but I’m out of ideas on promotion beyond being obnoxious. Not even sure why I do this again on my blog since everyone I know here has offered a hand, which I say a big THANK YOU for even if I don’t make it. Anyway, click on the word below to go to the Thunderclap site and give your support if you haven’t already:
Hippopotamus
(I didn’t say it would be a related word.)
The second item is my Amazon Author Page. Did you know that you could hit a like button on that page? This helps promote the author AND all associated books. There are author rankings that you may see on some of the high profile pages. The likes and visiting of an author page (I believe) helps with this. So, I’m asking for people to simply go to my Author Page and hit like. Just that simple. Click on the word below for that page and an early thank you:
Defenestration
Again, thank you for any help and support. I shall finish with a picture of my culinary supervisor:

He’s adorable. Looks like he’s got a real plan for cooking you up something special. I didn’t know that about the author pages. I visit several rather regularly to see what’s new. Now I can “like” my favorite authors. 🙂 Cool 🙂

Very cool. We were making Savory Lemon Chicken. He wanted his own spatula while I working on the other side of the kitchen. He knows to stay away from the blue fire and spitting pots. So I just sit him on the counter with the ingredients and have him hand me things.

As long as he doesn’t attack you with that spatula I think you’re safe 🙂

Yeah. There’s going to be 3 weeks where it’s just me and him around dinner time. So I’ll have to work with him. A few dishes might have nuts too, which will be tough. He eats his own stuff, so I don’t have to worry about him.

Okay, hit Amazon like. Love the culinary assistant.

Thanks. It’ll be nice to see if this changes something. I’m getting a few messages over the last week about how people don’t trust or like Thunderclap. A few that rail against social media in general. I’m really getting an eye-opener with this campaign even if it fails.

I don’t trust Thunderclap either but think if you want support you got it.

I just noticed that the Thunderclap campaign I helped a fellow author with ended 2 days ago. It was a success, so I checked around the time it finished. Facebook, Twitter, and Tumblr all have a post around then. I didn’t even realize it went live and nothing else has happened since.

Did not know about the Amazon Author page, will click right away! And thousand of hoorays for the culinary supervisor! 😀

Thanks to both. The supervisor is a harsh and curious taskmaster. I just hope he doesn’t try to make me include lemon juice into everything. He loves the look of the bottle.

At least he is not like Seth. He loves the look of the Nescaffe coffee baggies and he just forces me to make coffee and checks if I drink it. I have those blasted things for guests only, I hate coffee.

My mom uses a Kuerig and my son helps every morning. On days that she isn’t around, I have to have a cup if he remembers the tradition. I don’t hate coffee, but it makes me sleepy.

I didn’t know that about liking an author’s page on Amazon.

Supposedly it connects into the algorithms for the author list. I read it on a forum a few days ago, but I figure there’s no harm in promoting the page and getting people to hit ‘like’ on their favorite authors.

I’ve liked you on your Amazon page. Tried to do the same on the UK site but I don’t think you’ve got an author page there, if you have I couldn’t find it. Hope you’re having a good weekend and that you get those vital Thunderclap sign ups. Cute kid BTW! 🙂

Thanks. I don’t think I have one on the UK site since I’m ‘based’ on the US. Not really sure how it works since Amazon puts it together. Fingers crossed that those last 26 volunteers show up.

I’ve just checked my profile on Amazon.com and UK. I have a profile on both but can only get likes on the .com one – the UK site doesn’t seem to have that function. I currently have no likes on the .com site (I wasn’t even aware there was a ‘like’ button!) so if you’re feeling generous… 😉

I’m going through liking my favorite authors. Slowly, but surely. I wonder if it’s only on the .com site because Amazon is US based and that’s the ‘main hub’.

Who knows? You must have a lot of authors to go through. Maybe I should do the same.

It’s a hefty list, so I’m doing it bit by bit.

It is a related word. It’s huge, just like the promotion. 🙂
You’re getting closer. I really hope you get there. (In addition to seeing other authors succeed, I’d really like to check out a successful Thunderclap and hear how it went. Mostly, of course, I just want you to succeed with this promotion.)
The reblogged images showing up at all is just ridiculous to begin with…

I hope I get there too. It’s out of curiosity more than desire now, but volunteers have been trickling in. I’ll probably mention it tomorrow, Wednesday, and Friday night. Screaming about it doesn’t seem to be getting me anywhere.

I’m up to date with the Hippopotamus so I did the Defenestration 😀 LOL – The action of throwing someone out of a window? I didn’t know that about the Amazon author page either, so hope it does some good.

Thanks. The Hippo seems to be stalled out at 74. As for the Defenestration, it’s a fun word that someone used in college. So our group tried to use it whenever we could without overdoing it. You’d be surprised how often a character gets thrown out a window in Dungeons & Dragons.

I would have loved to play Dungeons and Dragons when I was younger (very ladylike – I know), but it wasn’t to be found in this neck of the woods. When it was mentioned in books like Hobgoblin & so on I used to almost clock out from jealousy. Probably way to old to have a go now. 🙂

You’re never too old. There were a few elderly gamers when I went to college and you’re nowhere near that age. 🙂

I didn’t know about the Amazon author page either. I “Liked’ yours and then Facebooked and Tweeted. I don’t really think there’s any “there there” with Facebook since the majority of my “followers” are family members who ignore me anyway. But it can’t hurt. Good luck with Thunderclap. It’s hard to know what to trust these days.

Thanks. I really agree with the trust statement. I haven’t heard from most of my friends and family on Facebook. Not even a whisper from them. One family member and one friend signed up for Thunderclap. I think part of the issue is that FB changed the system, so you only see the posts of people you interact with. If people aren’t liking or commenting on my posts there then they’ll eventually never see me.
