First, the weekend will be busy. In fact, I won’t be around on Sunday due to helping a friend with a baseball game. He said possibly free food, which . . . is it possible to have more than 2 Achilles Heels? So I won’t be able to see the above movie until the following weekend. Funny since I thought the idea was ridiculous until I saw the first trailer and changed to ‘I so have to see this’.
Due to the busy weekend, I’m going to mention a big change right now. The wife is getting a new job in a few weeks. It’s in New York City, which means she has to learn the Railroad system. This also means that I’ll be solo parent for mornings, non-school weekdays, afternoons, and early evenings. He won’t be back in school until early September, so I’ll be very limited in August. I’m going to be attempting to do a preliminary edit on Book 6 while marketing The Compass Key (more on that in a bit). So, we’re looking at me being more of a rarity than before. If I can finish the Book 6 edit before the wife’s new job starts then things will be easier, but it’s going to be a tight schedule. I’ll try to use the phone as best as I can, but I groan and whimper when things build up to 50 WordPress posts in my email. This is if the toddler will let me check my phone for any length of time.
As for The Compass Key:
I will email the Cover Reveal HTML once I get the cover, which should be soon. Jason is working as hard as he can and I’m still aiming for the debut to be next Wednesday, but I don’t have that final piece yet. Hopefully, people are still with me here and things don’t fall apart. Next time, I’m not going to gather volunteers until I get the cover or at least the near-finished sign. I jumped the gun and the repeated emails and messages are reminding me that I made a mistake here.
Now for one final question:

I don’t think it matters at all, the length difference is negligible. More important is the quality of the book and that it fits into the series without detracting from it. And wow, it sounds like August will not be much fun for you. I hope you can keep your sanity. 🙂

If I can get the book out and the marketing set up before the new job starts then I’ll be better off. That would leave me with tweeting and Facebook instead of everything else. I’d say it limits me from guest posting, but I haven’t found any blogs to do that on in a while.

I’m gonna pretend that I didn’t read that you thought of the Guardians as “ridiculous”. 🙂 also it would be nice to see a different sized book. It would enough to keep our appetites whetted for the next book.

Oooookay. I said when I first heard about it before there was any casting, images, or trailers. Seriously, the version I thought of was this one:

Oh okay! Ha I forgive you so 😛

Yup. Things get funny when you’ve been in comics for so long. Still, I won’t be able to see it until next weekend, so I’ll be dodging spoilers all week.

I wanted to see it tomorrow (that’s when its released here) but then I remembered I’m working from 3PM-9PM. Our cinema only has an 5PM and 9PM showing of it. 😦

Weird. They going to have more showings later.

I’ll probably end up going on Saturday. My local cinema only has 6 screens so it’s SUPER SMALL! But they’re planning to build a bigger one like 4 times the size so it’s all g 🙂

Have fun. The way I see my situation, I’m helping Guardians beat Turtles. 🙂

The numbers you mentioned (book length) don’t seem significant. I think it’s more important that the book feels the right length in terms of reader satisfaction and storyline; the actual word count is less important.

Thanks. Guess a plus side is I can do my editing in a shorter amount of time.

Don’t care about page count. I’m still here.

Thanks. I’m still here too, but more due to laziness. 🙂

I don’t judge books by their page count, so that wouldn’t matter to me either way.

Thanks. Glad to hear it. I think the sudden drop in page count caught me off guard. Almost like I ‘must have’ forgotten something when in reality the book might have fewer subplots than the others.

Page numbers don’t have much significance for me, although my personal taste is The Longer the Better, when its about fantasy books.

Me too. That’s why I worry about Book 6. Maybe it being part of a series will help it. Always has to be a ‘short’ book I guess.
