Biking and thinking about what I can do for marketing made me realize the difference between the first time around and this time. I have used more of Twitter, Facebook, and marketing sites. That’s good and has helped a lot. It’s exposure, but I think it’s also missing something. More that I’m missing a piece of my puzzle and I realized it after a post from The Ranting Papizilla.
When Beginning of a Hero came out, I went nuts on guest blogs and interviews. For Prodigy of Rainbow Tower, I did this in the hype stage. It helped for a big immediate boost since many people who supported me the first time have been incredibly quiet. I think I lost friends because they didn’t like my first book. Anyway, I haven’t done much in the way of guest blogging and interviews lately. One issue was time with the toddler being home all day. Other is I’m bloody exhausted . . . gee, wonder why I’ve added ‘bloody’ to my repertoire.
So, does anyone know sites that I can contact to do an author interview? What about guest blogs? I know I’m a pain on that front because I ask for a topic instead of writing whatever I want. So, any thoughts or ideas?

I can’t help with your question. But I did have to comment on “bloody”. Get your shite together, move your arse and you will bloody well find blogs. Teehee

I have been, but WP is so quiet these days.

I wasn’t being critical. I was poking fun at the language only.

Didn’t notice the language. Wrote it quickly, which might have been a hindrance.

The option should be in the WP dashboard under Pages.

Kristen Hope Mazzola is actively doing interviews now, her book is soon to be released…if you have not done hers already. I know mine isn’t scheduled until Oct. 20th or 23rd, so you may have a wait if you haven’t yet done hers. http://khmazzola.wordpress.com/

Have you tried Facebook ads, Charles? I wonder if any authors have had great success with that.

Those seem to only get people to follow the author’s blog, which could get sales. The big issue I have with Facebook ads is they charge you more as you gain followers and it’s by the day. Currently I have a $10-$20 a day offers, but it says only for likes. I’m saving up for a few big advertising things, but that won’t be until end of October.
I do promote on the FB promotion sites. I looked into a few others, but there were author discussion sites. Those get you temp banned if you try to promote on them.

I’ll start adding bloody to my written vocabulary (I say it enough in real life) so my partner in crime can make it a natural instinct for you
Oh and on good reads there is a message board up for indies who are asking for and taking interviews for their blog

I’ll look at that. Goodreads his made me leery ever since that quitting author debacle a few weeks back.

What happened on Goodreads? I’ve been so busy at work of late I’m really out of the loop no finger on any pulse for me!! Also, did you really feel you lost friends who didn’t like your first book? I sincerely hope that isn’t so, and I’d hate for that to happen to me I must admit – I think my first book is not a best seller type (it’s very heavy and introspective and that doesn’t scream best seller to me, LOL) and there’s the risk that people won’t like it (so I hope the publicity promotion I do is accurate) but it would be a shame for people to cease being a friend if they don’t like the work – it doesn’t bother me if they don’t as no book is to everyone’s taste, but it would bother me to lose a friend over it. I sincerely hope that didn’t/doesn’t happen to you my friend. 🙂

The goodreads thing is complicated, but the gist is that a young author was bullied into quitting before her book was released. As for the friends, it’s strange and unfortunate. They were happy to buy the first book and talked to me a lot. A few of them I haven’t heard from since then. Not even a review or feedback and nothing about the second book.

Wow, strange. It’s sad when things like that happen. 😦

There are very few defenses on Goodreads when it comes to this stuff. I remember reading that there are hater packs, who look for authors to go after. I’m thinking it’s best to just stay under the radar until rules are put in, but that’s just me.

Exercise is great for coming up with ideas. The trick is writing them down before you forget. 🙂

Yeah. Really hard to write when on the exercise bike, so I have to decipher my chicken scratch every afternoon.

I know, I’m just another old blog, with probably the same followers as you, but I have lots of free days where a guest post from you would be most welcome. 🙂
I’m rubbish at thinking up good topics to throw at you, (did I just say ‘rubbish’?) but I could come up with something.
But other than that, I don’t know of anything.
