Two Types of Friends

  1. A friend won’t throw you under the bus . . . a best friend will tackle you and fall under the bus with you.
  2. A friend will hold your hair or glasses when you drank too much . . . a best friend will be next to you at the toilet.
  3. A friend will give you a ride when you ask for one . . . a best friend will give you a ride when you don’t ask for one.
  4. A friend will split the last cookie with you . . . a best friend will create an elaborate challenge where the winner gets the cookie and gloating rights.
  5. A friend will tell you why you shouldn’t date someone . . . a best friend will support you and have an ‘I told you so’ speech planned for the inevitable.
  6. A friend will have you as part of their bridal party . . . a best friend will have you as part of their bridal party and have you sign a ‘I will get him/her there alive’ contract.
  7. A friend will help you stay out of trouble with the cops . . . a best friend will be running alongside you and say ‘So worth it!’
  8. A friend will cordially remind you that you borrowed something . . . a best friend will start stealing your belongings until you return it.
  9. A friend will lie for you . . . a best friend will lie for both of you.
  10. A friend will start stories with ‘remember when’ . . . a best friend will start stories with ‘I have no idea how old we were, but’.
  11. A friend will visit you when you’re old and gray . . . a best friend will be on the porch with you and still trying to get you to laugh at bad jokes.

    Ah. Lovely. So true. It’s great to be so well known, but it can be embarrassing too, especially if your BF knows embarrassing stories about you.
