Send Me An Angel by Scorpions

While listening to my Pandora mix, I started to wonder about bands of today.  One is that I nothing about them because I’ve hit that age.  The other is that I don’t hear a lot of bands doing mixing styles like this.  Listen to ‘Rock You Like a Hurricane’ and then jump into this.  An interesting switch.  Does anyone do the rock ballad any more?  Seriously, let me know of any bands that have the versatility of the older groups.

Also, I love this song.

About Charles Yallowitz

Charles E. Yallowitz was born, raised, and educated in New York. Then he spent a few years in Florida, realized his fear of alligators, and moved back to the Empire State. When he isn't working hard on his epic fantasy stories, Charles can be found cooking or going on whatever adventure his son has planned for the day. 'Legends of Windemere' is his first series, but it certainly won't be his last.

Well… I think GnR tried with the latest Chinese Democracy… which I can’t remember if I listened to it or not…. so….. yeah there needs to be a resurgence of some rock ballads, I am all for this 🙂

  2. I often think about how either I’ve reached that age, or there aren’t any epic bands out there anymore. No Queen. No Beatles. No Scorpion. GnR. Bon Jovi. U2. Am I unaware, or has rock shifted so much that there is no such thing as the epic band anymore?

    • Rock has definitely shifted, but I’m finding a few good ones. Shinedown, Theory of a Deadman, and Skillet are a few, but I got into the louder rock when I was in college. Might have helped with the transition.

I have become a fan of Indie rock and especially Canadian bands like Wake Owl. Lots of ballads with emotion, angst and questions. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sOl-xR_laLk

Gosh, I haven’t a heard a truly good rock ballad in years. That was all you heard in the 80’s. Big hair and rock ballads flashbacks! lol

  7. Wow! This really brought back some memories. Funny how scents and sounds will do that so easily.
