Star Trek, Tuxedo, Burgers, & Other

Add On– Got first royalty check.  Yippee!  Now I need to figure out what credit union to set up an account with.

First, a big thank you to all the anniversary well-wishes.  Also, a thank you for the 200+ comments, likes, blog posts, twitter posts, reblogs, and everything else sitting in my e-mail.  I really feel the love.

Star Trek: Into Darkness

I’ve never been a Trekkie.  I watched Next Generation and got into Deep Space Nine, but I never had the fervor of a Trekkie.  Never really had the fervor for any named fan-base.  So, this new timeline has very little negative effect on me.  In fact, I really like it because it means I can’t predict things.  Yes, I saw a lot of foreshadowing that I jumped on quickly, but there were several parts that surprised.  The role-reversal in this movie (can’t explain without spoiling) really caught me off-guard.

I go to movies to be entertained and escape reality.  This movie did that and let me hang out with some fun, interesting characters too.

Tuxedo Fitting

In 1.5 weeks, I have a wedding to go to.  I’m an usher and got fitted for my tuxedo a few months ago.  Then I started losing weight, so part of today’s events was that I had to get re-sized.  Thank god I did this because I dropped a full jacket size and went to the lower part of the pants spectrum.  I would have looked like I was starting to shrink if I stuck with the original measurements.

Wolverine Burger

I countered this with lunch at Red Robin.  The original plan of a Banzai Burger was undone by a special burger made for ‘The Wolverine’ movie.  Zesty sauce, spicy pickles, and onion strings.  It was really good.  In fact, I’m probably one bite of food away from a food coma and I can’t even think of eating anything else today.

Other

If every book cover for Legends of Windemere is going to be a character portrait then I figured out who would go on each one.  Tracy helped.  I will probably need to fix up one story to include more Fizzle, but I think I had him listed as a given anyway.

The other discussion that came up was the pricing of Beginning of a Hero and the sales.  I sell 2-3 books a day now.  So, the new price hasn’t improved my sales.  I’ve also been told of a site that works with .99 cent books, so I’ve been wondering if I should switch it back to that price.  The point of the first book is to lead people into buying the second, which is a few weeks from debuting.  It’s something to think about for a day or two.

About Charles Yallowitz

Charles E. Yallowitz was born, raised, and educated in New York. Then he spent a few years in Florida, realized his fear of alligators, and moved back to the Empire State. When he isn't working hard on his epic fantasy stories, Charles can be found cooking or going on whatever adventure his son has planned for the day. 'Legends of Windemere' is his first series, but it certainly won't be his last.

So much for my no comment silence. When I read this post title on my mobile it looks like you were fitted for a Star Trek tuxedo and had burgers of Windemere.

Fizzle needs a book cover. With apples.

I wouldn’t drop the price and use the promotional site until book #2 is actually out. As for your first royalty check … CONGRATULATIONS!!! Feels good, doesn’t it.

    • That it does. Good point on the price drop. I’m just being impatient. I might drop it a day early to get it signed up (if it’s eligible) in time for the debut though. Be nice to time things perfectly.

Ah, you have a point there. Between sign up and their acceptance and then publishing your book takes a few days. So, it might make sense to drop it, then submit to ereadernewstoday a couple of days later and then hope they’ll accept it and post it on or about the release of novel #2.

      • Probably wait 2 days between the drop and the submission. It depends on what happens with the sequel. That could debut as soon as Monday if things work out.

Just need that star level to hold out. I’m scared of 5-stars now too. Ugh. Such a long night.
