The Verdict: 2.99

Thanks for all of your advice and feedback.  After reading articles and your feedback, I decided to go for broke.  I went for 2.99 because if the sales are still bad at the end of the week, I can drop the price.  I can keep dropping until it is back in ‘sale mode’.  Maybe the .99 cent eBook has run its course for me.  It is possible that after a certain amount of reviews and rankings, people no longer think the book should be .99 cents.

Prodigy of Rainbow Tower will still be starting at 2.99 and Beginning of a Hero will dropped to 1.49 after a 2 day free period.  At least that’s the plan right now.  No idea when to fit the 3.99 in there.  I’m going on record as saying I hate the pricing side of things.

About Charles Yallowitz

Charles E. Yallowitz was born, raised, and educated in New York. Then he spent a few years in Florida, realized his fear of alligators, and moved back to the Empire State. When he isn't working hard on his epic fantasy stories, Charles can be found cooking or going on whatever adventure his son has planned for the day. 'Legends of Windemere' is his first series, but it certainly won't be his last.

I put Catskinner out there at $2.99 and never changed it except for the KDP free days. I hate pricing, too.

    • Now I just need to figure out what to do when I have more of the series out. I’m still wondering if a .99 cent book can be enticing to get the overall series. Some research I did showed that people will enter a series at .99 cents and pay as high as 5.99 for future books.

Maybe I should just get a dart board and see what happens.

Yeah, that’s what the Smashwords survey stated was the sweet spot for Indie books. http://www.mediabistro.com/appnewser/2-99-is-most-common-price-for-smashwords-indie-ebook_b35475

  3. Good choice Charles. I think it might spark some additional sales, especially to those people that wouldn’t purchase a book at the ,99 cent price point, but might think more highly of a book in the $2.99 category. Worst case you can always reduce the price. Good luck with this, I hope it works out for you.

Summer time is actually a down time for entertainment retail in general with the exception of movies in theater. Something about more people outside, enjoying the Sun etc etc.. Or something like that.
