Why Write Short Stories?

About Charles Yallowitz

Charles E. Yallowitz was born, raised, and educated in New York. Then he spent a few years in Florida, realized his fear of alligators, and moved back to the Empire State. When he isn't working hard on his epic fantasy stories, Charles can be found cooking or going on whatever adventure his son has planned for the day. 'Legends of Windemere' is his first series, but it certainly won't be his last.

  1. “To each his own” as it’s said. I’m glad you enjoy the short story process and know the reasons cited are spot on—I have a best friend who only reads short stories and for the reasons you’ve stated. For me, I am addicted to writing (I’m self-published) and reading novels for no apparent reason other than the deep emotional escape doing so provides. I wonder if short story writers are grounded in the present, while novelists are writers driven by the need to escape the present. Anybody have any thoughts about this?
