I love writing prompts – I run an “in-person” (thanks Zoom because of COVID) writing group where we have 10-15 minutes to write about a prompt and then we share. Needless to say, they can be the roughest of the rough, but it’s great to get writing as well as share. It’s fun to see how we can all take the same prompt in both similar and different directions.

I’m neutral on prompts. Some I’ve done well on, but others I do pretty poorly on. I don’t think I like being directed so much. Reminds me of high school.

I think it depends on the actual prompts – there are some I do better with than others. We do a lot of random three word prompts, mixed in with dialogue or basic idea prompt. I don’t like ones that give you too much already.

I’ve been in a few creative writing classes where the prompts require using 8-10 specific objects. This is along with a theme or exact scenario.
