Quick Post about Outage!

So we had a power outage this morning and I realized just how crappy an iPhone battery is.  I mean, I lost 10% of the power in 30 minutes of trying to sort emails and tweets.  Anyway, the kid and I are doing a play date at a zoo, so we’re out for the morning.  Just wanted to get a few things off my chest:

  1. What in the world happened to WordPress?  The like and reblog stuff are somewhere else and there’s a toolbar in the bottom right corner.  I already accidentally unfollowed a blog and then had to scramble to re-follow.  Sorry about that, John.  We really do live in a world where if it’s not broken, change it and possibly break it.
  2. I keep getting ideas for the comedy/action/blockaded USA story.  Even researched the area around Rikers Island to get an idea of location for the first chapter.  Unfortunately, I’m not getting to the writing.  Probably not until next Wednesday when the kid goes back to school.  By the end of the day, my mind is simply shot and I have no motivation to do more than watch TV.  Also I kind of feel like I wouldn’t get very far in the 2 hours that I have.
  3. Think I finally figured out how the finale of Legends of Windemere is going to go.  All the survivors, fatalities, injuries, scars, mistakes, and victories have been chosen along with who gets the killing blow.  So that’s my success.
  4. Don’t you hate it when you have a weekend coming up, want to do something, but you can’t because there’s an event with no locked in time/day?  Ugh.
  5. August sucks.  Horribly.

Well, I’ll be back later.  Off to do stuff.  Hope people are having a fun week.  Questions 3 will be going up at some point.

About Charles Yallowitz

Charles E. Yallowitz was born, raised, and educated in New York. Then he spent a few years in Florida, realized his fear of alligators, and moved back to the Empire State. When he isn't working hard on his epic fantasy stories, Charles can be found cooking or going on whatever adventure his son has planned for the day. 'Legends of Windemere' is his first series, but it certainly won't be his last.

So where is the reblog and like buttons now Charles? I noticed that this morning when I tried to follow someone. That’s missing too. ~Elle

My iPhone battery is awesome. I just upgraded and got the iPhone 6. I don’t know what kind you have. And WordPress is super annoying with all the changes.

  3. The new follow thing disappears when I scroll, but returns if I head back up. There are supposed to be three dots that do more things if you click them. I haven’t messed around with those yet.

  4. Yeah, that new WP look is not great. Funny; had you not posted about it, I wonder how long till I would have noticed? 🙂

    • Only reason I noticed was because I went to one blog and hit like at the top. Then I walked away for 10 minutes and came back to open another. The two screens were different until I refreshed the first. Lucky timing I guess.

  5. I got the notice you had followed me. I assumed something weird with WP was going on. Have a good day.

    How frustrating!!!
But I’m glad you’re getting ideas for your blockaded USA book in the midst of all of this.

Seriously, what happened with the “Like” button at the top where it was convenient and easy to find? Buried now. The idea is to make things easier for the reader to do things with the site, not difficult. Anyway, ‘nough of the venting!

Congrats on the finale. You’ll love the lifted weight from your shoulders. At least–that’s what I found.

And, yes. I’ve had that happen to me where I’ve had to wait around all weekend for something to happen where it didn’t actually happen. Awful. Just awful.

    I’ve never liked August either.

    • I’m wondering if people complained about too many readers liking without reading. So this is the answer. For some reason, most odd changes seem to come from a vocal minority.
I still fill iffy on the finale, but only because I haven’t written it yet. Probably won’t get to it until next fall or something. Still need to write Books 12-14 before I tackle the last one. 🙂
What is it with August being a ‘bad’ month? February too at times.

I can’t find a reblog button anywhere. Been off a few days. Not something I want to deal at the start of new edits. Argh!
