So I’m gradually scheduling blog posts for April and I ran out of ideas. Honestly, my mind has been so focused on the books that I’m not sure what to do. I get about halfway through the month and then pbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbt. Just nothing and I wander off to one of my outlines.

A difficulty here is that I no longer write about all my WIP. That brought in too many issues because I could only say so much without dropping spoilers. That’s also why I don’t write too much about LEGENDS OF WINDEMERE. I’d love to do an introductory blog post on the 6th champion who is debuting soon. Yet, I really shouldn’t until May and even then this character has such a big spoiler over their head. So my hands have really become tied in regards to my own stories. Not unless I can find a way around certain things. I do have one or two story issues, but I don’t want to put them into the public arena for voting due to sensitivity of the subject.
So, I’m going to attempt this again. Anybody have any fun topics to write about? Not just about how I write, but writing in general, life in general, thoughts on a trend, or anything that might be fun for debate. I’ll grab ideas and run with them. Well, power walk with them since I’m lazy after finishing that last book.
Legends of Windemere 
That’s why I throw in some of the personal stuff. I have readers who like that best, and others who prefer the writing stuff. I try to post 5 times per week, and everyone gets a little something they like. (At least that’s my illusion.)

The personal stuff is a tough one for me. I don’t do much here. Cook, clean, write, and parental stuff. I also have many people on this side of the computer that don’t want me mentioning them. Or get annoyed if I don’t show them in a glowing, positive light. Became too much of a headache. That’s not even counting the times a few family members flipped out for me even mentioning my son. It’s one of the reasons I kept the personal stuff to the weekend post.
Though the biggest reason is that I really don’t do anything worth blogging about. I’m sitting here on my laptop, an episode of ‘Once Upon a Time’ paused, and a few notebooks ready to be skimmed through. Not very exciting.

Those are a few of my ideas for you. I know it’s hard coming up with new and fresh ideas for blog posts. I agree with above in throwing in personal stuff. It doesn’t have to be uber personal (like an expose). It could even be something silly like your favorite foods. As a reader, I like to know the person behind the books I love but also an inside glimpse into writing and the series. 🙂 Hope it helps.

I always find it hard to choose favorites. The list is always changing. The balancing thing is a fun topic though.
I guess I’m torn on the personal stuff and blogging. As I said, I got a lot of flack for mentioning other people and I don’t do much solo. Also, I’ve been told that I should learn to keep myself distant, but approachable. It’s part of that balance that I haven’t mastered. Seems everybody has their own opinion on how ‘human’ an author should appear.

It’s up to you on the personal stuff. You can get personal without getting deep. Think of it like meeting people for the first time at a party. It’s mostly superficial but interesting. I get personal on my blog without delving too much into the person behind N. N. Light. In the end, you have to do what you feel most comfortable with. 🙂

How about the idea of presenting one or more of your characters for a Q&A with the “audience”? An intro by you about the chosen one, then a few inquiries from you and ask others to post questions for the character to answer.
Just brainstorming here, and this type suggestion hasn’t been made yet.

I actually have a week of character Q&A for April. I don’t really add any of my own questions since I never know what to ask. The problem is that it’s really hit and miss on getting people to react to it. I pull it out whenever I have a new book release though.

How about mixing personal and writing?
I’d personaly love to know which would be the fantasy books you would read to your son, other then your own. perhaps, to spread it further, do you recommend people books, and how do you go about it? Do you try to challenge them with a genre they toot they disslike or you try to please them 100%?

Never really thought of what I would read to him. I always thought he’d start on that genre when he can read on his own. I rarely recommend books too, so maybe I’ll talk about that.

As for me, the question springs from my own experience, the reading to children. I stick to the recommended, easy reading for all kids (we have mini books about fireman, veterinarians bla bla), but my son never reacts to it. Well, one time he sneaked in while I was reading Prathett and I said What the heck, lets give it a try and he laughed, he actually listened to me. It really made me rethink my choices of just sticking to what the populace says are good children books.

My wife reads to my son, so that’s her area for now. The reason is because she gets home too later for the shower and everything else. I do have something I can connect to the lack of recommendations though. At least why I only do it if asked.

I still don’t understand the D&D background to Legends.(because I never played D&D) Maybe a good discussion would be a series for the idiots like me explaining the backdrop.

I’ll see what I can do. I have some old posts on the topic around here. The thing is that a lot of the explanation would be the stats and dice mechanics, which are rather boring if you’re not going to play the game. The backdrop that this creates for Legends of Windemere is similar to Lord of the Rings and most other fantasy settings. Again, I’ll see what I said beforehand and try to figure out a better way to say it.

This suggestion isn’t new, I know: Inspiration! There are so many thrilling characters in your series – why don’t you write about what inspired you to introduce a certain character?

I’ll see what I can do. Most of them came from a Dungeons & Dragons game, so it was just spreading out the debuts over the first few books.
