‘Olaf’
This is a personal one, so I guess I’m breaking my own rule here. Anyway, the son has been wanting to make a ‘Snowman named Olaf’ all winter. His asthma has made it difficult to be out in the bitter cold. Also the snow was just too high for him to work in and got coated in ice rather quickly. Terrible snowman material.
Things have warmed up, so he sees the snow is melting and got worried about not being able to make his snowman. I didn’t know if the snow would make it to the weekend, so what you see at the top is something cobbled together in 5 minutes after he got off his bus and before homework. Unfortunately, it melted over night and he spent part of his morning claiming that he will turn the snowman into Olaf and made ‘ice power gestures’ like Elsa. Yeah, he still thinks he should be a Disney Princess, but also Captain America and Thomas the Tank Engine’s driver.
This wasn’t even the solitary event of this morning:
- Wakes up talking about Sonic. I asked who and he goes ‘Sonic is fast and blue’. The Hedgehog!? Somewhere my son learned about Sonic the Hedgehog, which is cool, but totally out of nowhere.
- He wants to show off a ‘Hamtaro’ toy to school. He snagged this from my sister during the garage sale last summer. It’s a plush acorn with a hamster living inside.
- Discussed how humans can’t reach the moon with their hands.
- Argued over if wearing a jacket makes you hot or cold.
- The thing with ‘Olaf’.
All of this was in the span of 45 minutes during which he still watched ‘Jungle Junction’, drank his milk, and I got the last of my email settled. Can’t say today has been uneventful and now to take a nap.
By the way, I’m going to be making another post later today. Just not sure of the time. It’s a minor announcement/question.

Love that age. Soren can ponder/question about seven unrelated major (weird) topics in five minutes. He is exhausting!

It does getting tiring when you’re still waking up. At least the weather isn’t delaying the bus, so I’m not waiting for an hour and a half making sure he doesn’t remove his jacket and shoes.

I like the Olaf! Also glad he likes the Hamtaro toy. Maybe he will want a hamster as a pet one day 😉 Or you can get him a pet hedgehog and name it Sonic =P

Not sure he’s figured out that you can have more than a cat or dog as a pet. Going to wait for that revelation to come about.

Go ahead. I’ll let dad know it was entirely your fault that the little guy is demanding a hamster. We’re having enough trouble explaining that we can’t buy him a new Thomas train every day.

They are fun to behold. Most of what he does can’t really be explained. A lot of ‘you had to be there’ events.

My grandkids made an Olaf in my yard. The carrot was stolen about an hour later. I swear grandma’s carrot moved all over our small town and appeared on a dozen Olafs.

Someone actually stole the carrot nose? That’s just wrong. I can accept a rabbit or a squirrel doing it, but another human? Those things aren’t hard to find.

Fun post! It’s amazing how kids’ minds work. The things my kids would come out with when they were younger always boggled my mind. Oh, to have that inquisitiveness and childlike way of seeing things again.

That mentality would certainly make adulthood more fun. There has to be a job out there that functions off such things.

Awwwwww. Love that Olaf. I’m so glad your son had the opportunity to make Olaf with his power gestures. Had to laugh that he had a Hamtaro. 🙂

Well we built a snowman. He is now trying to revive it with his ‘Elsa’ powers. Basically it was standing at the door and making ‘whoosh’ noises.

The fascinations of youth. I love the barrage of weird questions. That shows they are inquisitive, curious and filled with imagination. I’m glad he got to make his Olaf. 🙂

I think I love it more when he makes up facts and refuses to let them go. This morning was that ‘slept’ isn’t a word. It’s supposed to be ‘sleeped’.

Yeah. Figured I should do it before it melts. The hard part was that I had a glare on my phone screen and my glasses went into sunglasses mode. So it took a while to make sure I had the thing in the frame.

I always have to guess. I like taking pictures when it is overcast. I don’t know why iPhone can’t get a kindle like screen.

These little conversations is what makes childhood so beautiful. Nothing quite like waking up with Sonic on the brain. He goes so fast. Okay, but seriously, he does go sooo fast! 😉

Finally got an answer to where it came from. Some of his classmates had Sonic on their shirts.

Loved this post sounds like my grandson. And loved his snowman. Such precious moments. Treasure them, they only come round once and then he’s all grown up and borrowing the keys to your car 😉

We’ll see what happens. He’s been rather tame lately. It’s always tough to relay most of what he does because a lot of his antics require context and spontaneity.
