The Questions:

(From authors)

WHY should I promote other authors and their books on MY blog when I can’t even get LOTS of people to buy and review MY book(s)?

(From Readers & Bloggers)

WHY would authors (read demi-gods) who are way above me in the hierarchy of intelligence levels possibly want to send their articles to ME – a lowly Reader and Blogger?

(From existing Author / Books Bloggers)

I ALREADY have a good system going so WHY should I even CONSIDER changing it?

The Answers

(To Authors)

By featuring other authors and their books on YOUR blog, YOU and YOUR BOOK(S) will be seen by visitors as well – plus – it WILL bring NEW visitors and followers to YOUR BLOG and may even result in them getting YOUR BOOK(S)!

About Charles Yallowitz

Charles E. Yallowitz was born, raised, and educated in New York. Then he spent a few years in Florida, realized his fear of alligators, and moved back to the Empire State. When he isn't working hard on his epic fantasy stories, Charles can be found cooking or going on whatever adventure his son has planned for the day. 'Legends of Windemere' is his first series, but it certainly won't be his last.

  1. All points are true, but can I offer that bloggers have to know what our blog is about and what we hope to accomplish. In my case, as you probably know, my blog is about dragons. As much as I enjoy seeing book blogs, I don’t reblog or review them unless they include some form of dragon.

Why don’t I reblog other authors’ books? Am I that much of a snob? No, it’s because my blog is directly at least partly to kids under 10. Parents can be very sensitive about online content selling things to their kids. While my books are listed in the “about” section, I don’t often mention them directly in the blog. An exception, of course, is for new publications, which I mention once and let it go.

My blog’s purpose is to reach out and make friends, not to sell books. Again, every blogger gets to decide what they cover and don’t cover.

    • True. One has to factor in the audience and reason for the blog before they do something. Mine is about my books, me, and helping promote other authors. So I do reblogs that I think will help my author heavy audience. I’d have to read the post again to see if it mentions that.
