End of My Work Week

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=npjOSLCR2hE

So, the son is home for the next two days because of Rosh Hashana.  Jewish New Year before anybody asks.  I won’t have any back up after tomorrow afternoon too.  This means my editing will be slowed to a crawl.  Maybe I’ll get some done while watching the Giants game tomorrow night.  If anything I have a large beer ready for the event.

As usual, this designates me to my phone unless the little guy watches ‘Frozen’ or I let him watch an hour of Youtube videos.  I would edit during that time, but I’m more than likely going to try to handle emails and blog stuff.  I’ll slowly get through some of it through the phone, but it’s been argumentative lately.  Half the time I don’t see any comments coming in until I get to the laptop.  Not that I’m getting a lot on the champion stuff, but that’s probably for the best this week.

I’m hoping to get Allure of the Gypsies edited through the first 1/3 by the end of the night.  It isn’t easy because I’m only supposed to be looking for repetition and dialogue tags that I can remove.  Yet if I see a remnant of an old style (pieces still in the first 3 books), I can’t stop myself from fixing it.  Also I’ve located occasional continuity issues that aren’t even minor, but they bug me.  More it’s that I realized I wasn’t giving enough time for something to happen like saying someone had been in a place for a week, but they talk as if it’s been a month.  As I said, very minor and nitpick-y.

Only other piece of news is that I think I’ve found a better Twitter method.  I’ve been scheduling everything through Hootsuite, which has taken some of the edge off the planning.  This means I haven’t tweeted off the Amazon site in a while.  I scheduled 3 tweets (6am, 12pm, 6pm) today and did Amazon tweets in-between.  Well, I ended up getting some sales when I did that.  Not sure if there’s an actual connection, but I’m an author with a lucky stapler, so I’ll go with the wild guess.

So, kind of talk to people tomorrow.  I’ll be dragging my butt to the weekend from the look of things.

About Charles Yallowitz

Charles E. Yallowitz was born, raised, and educated in New York. Then he spent a few years in Florida, realized his fear of alligators, and moved back to the Empire State. When he isn't working hard on his epic fantasy stories, Charles can be found cooking or going on whatever adventure his son has planned for the day. 'Legends of Windemere' is his first series, but it certainly won't be his last.

  2. Frozen?! That’s all the little girls are singing at school, and the boys sing along with them. It’ll be a long year. Enjoy your weekend and extra time with your son.

  3. Amazon tweets? Just tweeting with a link? Or is there something else?

  4. I hope a lucky star shines on you, and Kiddo is able to stay occupied a bit so you can get some things done.

BTW, can you explain what you mean about the tweets, particular the Amazon tweets? TIA :-).

    • I hope so too. I won’t hold my breath though. I’m going to have enough trouble getting a shower for the next two days.

By ‘Amazon tweet’, I mean tweeting directly off my books’ Amazon page. That adds the @amazon thing to it and I wonder if it counts toward something behind the scenes. I’ve tried adding that to regular tweets and get nothing. I do it with the page and it seems to work better.

  5. GREAT INFO CHARLES!!! I did not know about the Amazon tweets. Can they be scheduled or do you have to set them up real time?
