I clear the spam
As I hit the can
Hoping to get ahead
Making progress
Until I hear a voice
Tiny and through the door
Not sleeping in today
Next time will be at night
When exhaustion has set in
Guess I am a liker once again
And my wordy child on the ‘net
Are left to their own devices
Next Wednesday is when school starts again for my son. I can only imagine the chaos of that day, but it’ll also be when I can do a little more blog interaction and FINALLY get back to my books. Not just editing, but trying to market them too. I do the tweets in advance and do the FB post when I eventually get my head together. Still, I can’t seem to get The Compass Key out of the high 3,000’s. So it won’t get as high as the others unless I hit a sudden surge, but I’ve used up all my advertising ideas. Now I’m just rambling because I really want a day to get some extra sleep (without sacrificing what little night I have) or get into the next project.
Even worse, I have a few new ideas that I haven’t been able to jot down beyond vague half-sentences. This includes a change to the Legends of Windemere ending that throws a subplot off. I just can’t win this month.

Subplots are evil gremlins that are out to destroy our lives. You could always try burying it and when a readers asks just blink innocently and ask “What subplot? Oh, you must have misinterpreted that. Go back and read it all again.”

Sadly, this one is too big to bury since it’s been going on for most of the series. The characters involved have kind of evolved differently than what I expected.

I really don’t like marketing, but I know it has to be done! Good luck with getting back to it 🙂

Your poem is great. I want you to know your virtual babies never know they are neglected.

Thanks. Still wish I could give them and their unpublished siblings more attention.

I liked your poem, Charles. I wonder if he’s as excited about starting school as you are? Has he said?

He’s going back and forth. He wants to see his old friends and old school, but some times he wants his new school. I don’t think he fully understands what’s going on.

My fingers are crossed for you and your latest book – I am sure with time it will do as well, if not better, than the others and build your platform even more – you are an inspiration to us all really, just getting on with it and being in it for the long haul! 🙂

Thanks. It’ll be nice if it can do better. Doesn’t look that way due to summer, but it’s still in the first month. Been 21 days since release.
