Got to the zoo a little after opening and closed the park down. Lions, tigers, bears (grizzly and polar), red pandas, gorillas (including a baby), giraffes, zebras, monkeys, tapirs, flamingos, sea lions, rhinos, deer, and that’s all I can remember him listing off to me as I brought him to the bathroom. One heart attack happened with him getting his leg stuck in the fence by the zebras. Ever get panicked to the point where you’re angry, but not sure at what? That would be this since I was holding him up and letting him go would have made it a lot worse.
Anyway, I’m exhausted and overheated. I tried looking through my email, but I could barely focus. This post alone is taking me an hour, so I think I’ll get back to other blogs in the morning. As usual, I’m sorry if I missed something important. I’ll sift through to see if there were any calls for blog tours, cover reveals, etc. The big goal is to finish the editing tomorrow and do the laundry.
One final note. Here is where The Compass Key stands:

He looks like I feel… and you sound. Did I see something about a blog tour? I’ve been so out of it for the last little while. Blaming it on summer.

That’s an old picture. He made it to the bed this time, but he was sprawled in the booth of the restaurant. He blinded grabbed for his food, so he didn’t sleep.
I have a blog tour going for the last 2 weeks of August. I have the 29th-31st still open if you want to join.

Still feeling worn down too. Last day to get my editing done, so I can’t sit on my haunches. It’s going to be a long weekend.

Can I trade it in for a loafer life or maybe a cabin I can use for one weekend?

Sneaker life for you. Loafer no.

True. Maybe slippers too.

Slippers not the life of Charles. The life of Charles is boots I fear.

Ick. Never liked boots. Too heavy and clunky.

Sounds like you made it out alive, but not entirely unscathed. Glad you made it back and I hope your son is okay. 🙂

I’m planning a trip to the big city zoo for the tiny tinker over Labor Day, if possible, as a late birthday present (one week until she officially turns terrifically two!) I’m anticipating to sleep as your son did in the picture 😉
Glad you survived though, and the book is doing GREAT! Congrats

That’s an older pic since nobody had any zoo pics on their phone. I’m thinking of taking him to a smaller zoo in a week or two. He has 2-3 weeks before kindergarten starts.

Aww, I imagine that he would get a huge kick out of that. Maybe a petting zoo?. We have a small petting outside of town here that’s run by some high school/college friends of mine. The kid loves it! She can get up close to zebras, a camel, bunnies, etc. such fun!

There are a few petting zoos around and he loves them. Money is currently an issue for that though.
