Ask-A-Character: General Vile the Halfling Swordsman

This is really becoming a week of predominantly villains because here is another agent of Baron Kernaghan.  Honestly, there’s nothing really vile about General Vile.  He is a halfling warrior with a sense of honor, but he can be cruel if he wants information out of someone.  Even though he’s rather small, Vile proves that he can hold his own against any opponent.

Perhaps his biggest role in the story is that he’s the father and master of Nimby.  How this will play out in the overall story is still a mystery.  I’m not even sure if they’ll come face-to-face yet.  Again, there’s not much else to Vile’s past that gets mentioned in the books because he simply doesn’t feel like sharing.  As honorable as he is in battle, he keeps his past a secret to avoid his allies from using any of it against him.  All I can say before the questions is that he had a profitable career as a thief, mercenary, and assassin.  Always he is an avid collector of magical items.

So ask anything that comes to mind since it isn’t every day you run into an evil halfling swordsman.

About Charles Yallowitz

Charles E. Yallowitz was born, raised, and educated in New York. Then he spent a few years in Florida, realized his fear of alligators, and moved back to the Empire State. When he isn't working hard on his epic fantasy stories, Charles can be found cooking or going on whatever adventure his son has planned for the day. 'Legends of Windemere' is his first series, but it certainly won't be his last.

Since you have a sense of honor in battle, what do you find honorable in an opponent? Who have you met who fit this description?

    • Vile- I have met several warriors who meet my requirements. It is merely that they are willing to fight face-to-face and not back down. Cowardice has no place in the battlefield. This is not to say that you fight a losing battle, but you push forward until it is clear that you must retreat.

Nyder- I still say sending a Weapon Dragon is easier.

Vile- You hide behind your toys, which is your way and I respect that. It doesn’t make you a warrior.

Nyder- Thank the gods because I never wanted to be one in the first place.

Vile- That does bring up that if one does not have the interest in being a warrior then they should not be on the battlefield in the first place. I’ve had to kill too many fools that should have found other lines of work.

  2. Bad news: I downloaded your latest book through KU, but I’m halfway through another book, so it will be a few days before I reach that critical 10%.

Good news: Looks like KU is paying nicely for downloads. 🙂

    • Vile- I’m confused on what you’re talking about.

Author- It’s behind-the-scenes stuff. A book borrowing system that my series is part of. Kind of like a magic library. It’s definitely paying off and the downloads are really piling up.

      Vile- Bard business. Got it.
