Apologies for Deleted Post

I had a post earlier about a future idea where I wrote (Do Not Reblog) at the top.  It was a risk, but I thought I would try that approach.  Well, somebody reblogged it and I opted to delete the post.

So if you were commenting on it or come across it later then I apologize.  Also, I will be keeping some things close to the vest from now on.  I do appreciate all of the help and feedback that I get on my WIP.  So, thanks to everyone who helped me clear out some cobwebs.  Hope we can still have some fun.

About Charles Yallowitz

Charles E. Yallowitz was born, raised, and educated in New York. Then he spent a few years in Florida, realized his fear of alligators, and moved back to the Empire State. When he isn't working hard on his epic fantasy stories, Charles can be found cooking or going on whatever adventure his son has planned for the day. 'Legends of Windemere' is his first series, but it certainly won't be his last.

  1. Makes you wonder if such person ‘read’ the post. 🙂

  2. I’m sorry to hear that happened. Wishes should always be respected.

I have no doubt that many “likes” and “reblogs” are produced by people who don’t actually read the content.

    • Very true. I can accept the “likes” though because those are relatively harmless in my mind. The “reblogs” are more trouble, especially if you post something during a time of high emotion and regret it later.

My favorite is writing a 2,000 word post and having the first “like” show up 10 seconds later. There’s speed reading, but … come on. As for reblogs in your circumstances … there are plenty of risks associated with writing and posting at times of high emotion. I’ve learned that mistake numerous times. Frequently at work I’ll write something when I’m monumentally pissed off about something and then have somebody read it. They can both edit away my frustration and typically just having the time to ponder while they read and edit is enough to calm me down.

      • Many times I don’t have anyone to read it. Though I’m learning my lesson. The scary thing on the current reblog is that the person is sharing my ‘Sunday Goal Posts’. These are me talking about my week and what I want to get done for the next week. Also any WIP that I post get shared, which I’m not happy about.

Honestly, I don’t know why people don’t simply read something and be picky about reblogging.

Reblogging your Goal posts makes no sense.

Hang in there, Charles. It’s all a part of living in the public eye.

  5. I saw the request at the top of the post and it was pretty clear, sorry that it didn’t work out. I hope that you will be able to post that type of material again in the future, but for now your decision is understandable.

    • I hope so too. As I move along with other ideas, it helps to bounce them off people. Especially when I’m not sure about some things like the space bounty hunter stepping into my fantasy world.

Charles, turn off the reblogs until the cover reveals, etc…I agree with Belinda.

    • I’m considering it. One issue is that most of what I post is rebloggable. For example, I’m posting about using the 5 senses in writing this week. Totally worth seeing those get spread about. The problem is coming up from a few who are reblogging everything without a care. So the question does come up: Do I cancel reblogging for everything to protect a handful of posts?

      Hopefully this stops soon.

Sorry that anyone would be so thoughtless. I rarely reblog lately, though I’ve done so in the past, and know I should ask what the person’s preference is … but do forget sometimes. I was reading your discussion with Mark and yes…it is crazy how when you put a post up, like 2 seconds later there she blows … a like. If it were a haiku, I guess that could be possible, but I’ve seen it happen with much longer posts as well. Makes you understand some of those people who turn the likes and reblogs off.

    • I’ll fess up to hitting like as I’m reading something and have to step away from the computer. I do it because there have been times I walk away, come back, finish reading, and never forget to hit the button. That’s why I’m able to deal with the phantom likes.

You can’t win, can you? I clearly read the “Do Not Reblog”. It was the first line! Sorry to hear.
