We got snow yesterday, which will probably cause the people from colder regions to start telling me to shut up. Whatever. My blog/FB/Twitter, so I’m allowed here. I’m diverting from my point.
It is bitter cold, so the toddler needs to be kept inside for now. He’s resisting, which is delaying my morning ‘work’ and shower. Like yesterday with the storm ‘prep’, there’s no biking today. I doubt there will be much of anything today. Maybe some reading.
This is making me realize a big downside to working from home during the winter. Any storm period for that matter. Once the toddler is home and everyone else acts like it’s a day off, I’m screwed. Thankfully, I only have promotional work, reading, and outlining to do. Still, this means I lose a day of getting some progress on other projects. Seems like I’ve been fighting a losing battle ever since winter began.
To sum up: I HATE WINTER!

I hear you! I can’t say that I hate Winter but once we get snow.. the schools are closed and bam!, that’s my plans gone for the day. Thankfully we haven’t had any yet this year but it is surely only a matter of time. 😦

One thing I never get is the surge of panic that washes over the adults. It’s chaotic before the storm, during the storm, and after the storm. So anyone that has to get work done is driven mad. I think I’d rather be solo with the toddler during this period.

Yeah, I know what you mean. Snow etc.. always induces massive amounts of stress!

Last minute stress too.

I’m with you. I get all these Northerners coming down here and messing up my inspiration as well as the beach.

Ugh. The littering is a real shame. I never understood how people could do that when there are trash cans nearby. We should create a beach animal that hides in the sand and slaps litterers with a long, paddle-like tail.

John the only thing I mess up on a beach is the mound of sand where I lay for hours. Can I come down there? It is flipping cold here. Funny when I was in Florida it was too darn cold to go to the beach, but at least I saw the sunset over the water. The Floridians were dressed in parkas with hoods and I was there in a sun dress with bare legs and bare feet. The cold is all about perspective I think.

Ha ha. Last week I had my heavy gear on and the Northerners were in shorts. You are right it is a relative thing. Supposed to be near 40 degrees on Thursday. Parka ho

That’s too cold for even us northerners.

Go and have a snowball fight or build a snowman… cold or not, it is more fun that chomping at the bit when you can’t work anyway. Just grey and rainy here now 😦

It’s powder, so nothing can be made from it. Not the fun type of snow. 😦

Hmmm… that’s not fair at all…

It’s also 14 degrees (Fahrenheit), so it’s far too cold for sensitive baby face.

Entirely unfair. If you have to have snow at least it should be fun on the first day!

Plus side is that it’ll be around for a few days. So he can play in it tomorrow when mommy is home. 😀

Just bundle up the little guy and play before it gets colder outside. The snow is fluffy from what I heard. Better than being stuck inside and bored for the day. I’ve been bored since last night =P

It’s bitter cold already and he’s being bad. Better to go outside when it warms up.

We aren’t getting snow at the moment, but they cancelled school anyway because we’re expecting some. *sigh* At least I’m catching up on blog reading…

They did an early cancellation yesterday, but the storm hit 3 hours early. So, my son was stuck on the bus for about 2 hours and 15 minutes.

Oh, no! Glad he got home okay after that, but how awful for him. 😦

He came back fully powered and didn’t wet his pants, which I see as a success.

Days like this one are definitely one of winter’s ugliest hats. Go find some toys he hasn’t seen in a LONG time. A squirt bottle with a little water, a towel and the windows. If you have a small squeegee (sp) that’s even better. Toddlers love to spray, clear and wipe off. Just a thought. 🙂

He’s got a load of toys around, so I don’t have to entertain him. The problem is that he’s in the nonstop talking stage and demands I watch him play.

Haha…aww yes. Perhaps voice record your overactive mind while playing with his little people?

I don’t have a tape recorder. I might read for the day, but he wants to go outside. Temp is in the teens and he’s not listening.

A good time waster is getting all dressed and then walking out. They understand cold when its on their face. What’s 20 min outside…
This teacher, who happens to be home with a sick child today, is full of ideas.

I tried that with the cold room of the house and he still denied it was too cold to go outside. We’ve taken him out in this weather before and he refuses to budge. I’m hoping it warms up later, but right now it’s so bitter.

Hope it warmed up or the sugar coma took effect.

Still very cold. No sugar coma yet. He’s rushing around.

We are back to having below zero crap. We had snow last night too. I’m really starting to wonder just how much I dislike bugs and reptiles that are big enough to eat me, and if it wouldn’t be worth it to move to Hawaii.

The man-eating reptiles are easy to avoid if you stay out of the water. No recommendation on the bugs. Still, we’d end up bitching about the heat then. Probably aim for the middle.

Looks like it will last for a few days at least. I had to go out yesterday and my hands were aching within minutes. That was with gloves.
