For those that are fairly new or unaware, I have a 102-year-old grandmother. It seems she had a severe stroke this morning. She’s already had one of those along with several mini-strokes over the years. She suffers from dementia and . . . let’s just say it has been a rough time. So, I’m rather out of it and limping along this week. My parents have cancelled their trip for now unless something really turns around.
Aside from that, Greg won’t be showing up for personal reasons. That Phi Beta Blog post won’t be going up on Saturday and will be horribly delayed. Maybe I’ll write my writing mess post for that day.
On ‘plus’ side this week is I finished the hand edits of Legends of Windemere: Family of the Tri-Rune. I’ll start typing them in tonight or tomorrow depending on my mood. It raises the questions of what to do next. Do I hand edit Legends of Windemere: The Compass Key (Book 5)? Do I take some time to do the 3 blurbs I need for Family of the Tri-Rune (aiming for a February debut)? Do I try to finish the characters and stories for The Slumber Wars? Maybe I’ll do the restructuring that I need to do. 40 ideas and some of them are barely more than 2 sentences on a page. I still haven’t tackled the Project Phoenix mess, which I always seem to wrap my mind partially around and then it slips away from me. All of this is hard to explain without posting all of my series ideas on here, which might be a bit too dangerous. I’m just lost and rambling at this point.
I’m not really sure what I’m going to do, especially around here. I have my posts scheduled for the next two weeks. Resting doesn’t seem to be much of an option and my brain is bouncing between reality and wanting to hide in Windemere to avoid thinking about everything. So, that’s this week. Yup.

Sorry to hear about your grandmother Charles, it is a very sad thing regardless of the persons age. Hang in there and do the best you can, that is all anyone can ask.

Sorry about your grandmother and that things are so rough for you. It’s okay to take a step back from things. You’ve got posts scheduled, so maybe take a break and do things that will help bring you some relief. And even if you didn’t have posts scheduled, it’s still okay to take a break.

I’m thinking about it. Just not sure what I can do for a break beyond turning into a couch potato for a few days.

Catch up on reading books while you’re on that couch? 😉 Research something new and cool?

I should try that. Though, I do have a laundry list of book ideas to sort through too. Just kind of numb at this point.

Difficult trying times ahead for you – but you will get through all of that. It is hard for families to watch a loved one go through these kind of things. So sorry you are having to deal with all of this. It won’t make a fun birthday for your wife . Hugs to all of you

Thanks. This has actually been going on for 2 years. So, it’s been a long watch of someone deteriorate, which feels worse than a sudden loss.
I’m hoping to find distractions in my writing tonight and through the rest of the week. Can’t really focus on much else.

Charles, I’m sorry to hear about your Grandmother. I have a favor to ask. I’m looking into doing one of my collections of poetry myself–probably through Amazon. Do you have anything you can tell me about such things. Major pitfalls?
Did you DYI your books or did you emlist their help? Cover? My email is annotating@aol.com if you want to respond. I know you’re busy but any help would be gratefully appreciated. >KB

Charles,
So sorry for your pain and worry. May I suggest something that has helped me? Journal write fun/happy memories of your grandmother.
I will be thinking of you and your family.
Take care & hugs,

Sorry to hear about your Grandmother and rough week Charles. I had similar experiences this Summer. What I did was throw myself into poetry, just let it all out onto the page. It doesn’t have to be good, sometimes it just needs to get out. Take care of yourself and family.
