Goals of the Week: Written while Watching ‘Mars Attacks!’

I’m back from the wedding of the year, which was a blast.  I’d tell people the details, but it wasn’t my wedding and you really had to be there.

With that, I need to figure out what my goals for this week are going to be.

  1. I’m trying for 2 chapters of Legends of Windemere: The Compass Key again since I did it last week.  I lose half of Wednesday, but it’s for a good cause.
  2. Redo the outline for Legends of Windemere: Curse of the Dark Wind (Book 6) to include more Fizzle and fix some issues.
  3. Read something.  For the love of god, I need to read something.
  4. Set up credit union account for royalties.
  5. Make enemies/lose followers with another pricing post tomorrow after noticing something since I dropped Legends of Windemere: Beginning of a Hero to .99 cents again.
  6. Special project.
  7. Touch The Slumber Lord set up.  Not even write anything.  Just touch the notebook and get that layer of dust off it.
  8. Make another goal list a week from today.
  9. Watch Futurama final season premiere.  Hey!  Don’t judge me!

That’s about it.  The problem I keep having is that I focus on the chapter goals and the rest fall by the wayside.  Need to find a way around that.

About Charles Yallowitz

Charles E. Yallowitz was born, raised, and educated in New York. Then he spent a few years in Florida, realized his fear of alligators, and moved back to the Empire State. When he isn't working hard on his epic fantasy stories, Charles can be found cooking or going on whatever adventure his son has planned for the day. 'Legends of Windemere' is his first series, but it certainly won't be his last.

did you buy yogurt, get a hair cut, and get the car checked from last week’s list?
    Happy Father’s Day, Charles.

  4. Nicely done Charles! And just focus on the story, not so much on the word count.
(hmm, am I the only one who is really curious about the wedding?) 🙂

  5. HAHAHAHA sounds a lot like my list! Love the need to read something and removing the layer of dust from the notebook, both of which are on my list. Hope you have a very productive week! 🙂

    • I hope so too. I have another series of weeks where I don’t get a full 5 days to work on my books. My main goal is to finish my 5th book by the end of first week of August. That way I can do editing when my son is home from school for the rest of the month.

I love your lists Charles. They are always so entertaining like the rest of your blog. I need to take a cue from you and start writing one down to keep myself accountable. I’m curious…what superhero shirt were you wearing under your tux?

I should probably take a chapter out of your book (hahaha) here and start making up a structured goal list for every week, to try and keep myself on track. I hope it actually works for you. I’m questioning on whether or not it would do anything at all for me, or if – at the end of the week – it would just be a list of things I didn’t get done.
    I LOVED #7!

    • It does help with focus, but I overshoot my goals. I forget to factor in that there are other people in the house. I’m trying to take the ‘be happy with half completion’ route these days.

For example, I’ve barely touched my book and that’s going to cost me that first goal. I did get #7 done since I had to move it for something.
