I haven’t done one of these in a while. At least I don’t think I have.
So, I have everything ready for the convention and free eBook weekend. The tweets and blog posts have been written and scheduled for advertising. The poems are written and scheduled to keep the April Poetry Month challenge going. I signed up with a few free eBook advertising sites courtesy of Gwen Bristol. She’s doing a free eBook weekend too, so please spread the word too.
I’m going to post the Prodigy of Rainbow Tower excerpt later today instead of tomorrow. I might also put up a sneak peek of Allure of the Gypsies tomorrow and one of Family of the Tri-Rune on Saturday. One will be an action scene and the other will be a mysterious teaser scene if I decide to do it.
In other news, I finished the outline for the new version of Merchant of Nevra Coil, so that’s off my mind. I should be getting back to character designs and reading Cupcake by Mariah Jones.
Final note: for anyone who missed the cover art post, Prodigy of Rainbow Tower is looking at a late May/early June release.

Good luck at the convention this weekend! I’ll be watching for your posts to reblog/share.

Thanks. I’m looking forward to it. There are going to be a few other authors there, so I get to talk shop. The hardest part is going to be getting used to not having the toddler around for a full weekend. Last time my wife and I had a weekend away from him was June 2010, so we’re going to have to figure out how to work an alarm clock again.

How do you usually find out about writing conventions? I’ve been thinking of starting to try them out in my area, but I’m not sure if there’s a central place where people go to advertise them, or if I just have to be diligent with Google.

This is through my old college and it’s more of a tabletop gaming convention. It started while I was still there and I’m friends with the person running the vendor room. As a fantasy author, I look for comic and sci-fi/fantasy conventions. I’m not sure what other genres do. Google might be the best way to find ones in your area.

That makes a lot of sense about the cons actually. I’ll probably just go with Google. I’m hoping to have my second book out no later than July, so maybe that’s the timing I should aim for.
Oh, I’ve been meaning to tell you. Rather than do my Guest Author posts every Friday, I’m going to do them every couple of days until I work through the ones I’ve already been sent. Since yours was first, it will be up on the 1st 🙂

Cool. I’m looking forward to it. I’m hoping I don’t mention a May release for my second book in there. I did that a few times before an unexpected delay happened.
Sudden thought. Is there such a thing as an on-line convention for self-published authors? Almost like making a virtual table where people can buy your books and leave you questions.

If you do, I will remove it for you. Do you want me to remove mention altogether, or change the date?
And I’m not sure, but it sounds like a great idea. I’ve seen a lot of blog exchanges that sound similar, but your idea has a bit more structure than that. Maybe you should champion it and get it off the ground 😛

Don’t remove the mention. It’s now a late May/early June release instead of early May.
I wouldn’t even know where to start with something like that. I lack the technological ability to put it together. Maybe it’d work best with a council type of system like Arcon. Each area was run by a different person like the vendor room, anime, games, food, advertising, etc.

Cool, I’ll leave it as is then.
I bet what you’re describing does exist somewhere. That’s the beauty and problem of the internet, though…the potential is unlimited, but then you have to go and try to find it.

Very true. I might have an easier time finding Waldo with my eyes closed.

Will do. With any luck, people will get to see the real Nimby and, possibly, Fizzle.
