Funny how I say that I’m not going to do awards any more and then I get hit by a slew of brand new awards. I was nominated for the Shine On Awards by DLFwriting and it looks like a very fun award to do. You should really check out his site for all of its entertainment and information.
The Shine On Award Rules:
- Link back to and thank the blogger who nominated you.
- Post the badge on your blog.
- Answer the questions posed to you.
- Nominate five bloggers who shine a little light in your day and notify them.
- Ask five questions for your nominees.
Questions to be Answered:
- Are you a Plotter or a Pantser? I guess I’m more of a plotter instead of a spontaneous imp. Though, I try to stay out of trouble and keep my plotting for my books.
- When you’re in a rut, where do you go for inspiration? I just wander off and go about my day until something strikes. The inspiration could return from a video game, a tv show, a newspaper article, or anything that I’m interacting with.
- What writer, living or deceased, would you liken your work to the most? I’ve been told that I write like Terry Brooks with my combination of fantasy and humor. I typically have to take people’s word for this because I never like comparing myself to other authors.
- What is your story writing process? I get an idea and I try to run with it for a few days in my head to see if it sticks. If it survives a few days, I start designing characters and flushing out the plot in one of my notebooks. After that, I do a detailed outline and jump into the book writing. I try to put a few months of planning before I actually begin to write.
- What is your blog writing process? Highly spontaneous. I plan out my Wednesday thought posts about the writing process, but the others are sections of my books/novellas, old poems, sudden poems that come to mind, or just random thoughts that appear. I like the idea of being sudden on WordPress.
Questions from Me:
- Who or what inspires you to write and/or blog?
- At this present moment, what would be your life’s theme song?
- What was your most precious toy as a child? Do you still have it?
- What is the worst movie you ever saw? Did you walk out?
- What is the first thing you see if you turn around?
Nominations:
And because I can’t resist it (anime/manga fans will know) . . . Chi!

Thanks. Congrats to you too. I was about to nominate you, but I saw you got it the same time as me. That would have been awkward.

Awesome! Thanks for taking the time to answer the questions. I don’t know how you can stay away from Terry Brooks. If someone told me I write like a specific author, the first thing I’d do is grab their work to see.

I just recently began hearing it and I read his stuff long ago in high school. Honestly, I’ve been so busy writing my own stuff that I’ve barely had time to make a dent in the knee-high pile of books I’ve bought with last year’s bday and holiday money.
