Many people are quick to criticize Amazon, and there may be some room for improvement, but I wholeheartedly believe that Amazon is highly beneficial to shoppers, writers, and small businesses.

I’ve been a customer at Amazon from the very beginning. I appreciate the convenience, selection, savings, and free shipping on qualified orders. I also have Amazon Prime.

You can even find out what other customers have to say. The customer review system isn’t perfect, but some input beats no input.

About Charles Yallowitz

Charles E. Yallowitz was born, raised, and educated in New York. Then he spent a few years in Florida, realized his fear of alligators, and moved back to the Empire State. When he isn't working hard on his epic fantasy stories, Charles can be found cooking or going on whatever adventure his son has planned for the day. 'Legends of Windemere' is his first series, but it certainly won't be his last.

A lot of people get up in arms against Amazon, saying it destroys self-published authors. But I don’t see how it does that. With KDP select – sure, I can’t sell my eBooks on my website. Or sure, I can’t publish with Nook. But neither of those options were turning up any results anyway! With KDP select, I have gotten more downloads than ever, and I am getting to keep a higher percentage of my sales. Plus, I get worldwide access, and it is fun to see the different countries that my book has “visited”. I don’t see Amazon as a corporate giant out to screw us all. So far they have treated me well and I don’t have any problem with them.

    • I wonder if most of the people complaining are traditional publishers, publishing snobs, and people who are simple haters. I’ve met many people who couldn’t give me a real reason why they hated Amazon beyond ‘Amazon is corporate’.
