My son picked his Halloween costume for this year and it requires building. A lot of crafty building. This isn’t my area of expertise, but I’m doing my best. A few pieces I’m still figuring out or need to order parts for. Thankfully, the biggest headache was my mission for last week and I think it worked out. I’m going to regale you with progress pictures that I already posted on Instagram and Facebook. So, who did my son pick as his costume?
Soul King Brook from ‘One Piece’
He wanted the shark guitar too. Needless to say, I had to start now because these pieces will take time and creative thought. I need a cushion of time to allow for me fixing any mistakes. So, here we go!
So far, so good, Charles 👍😃 Maybe one of his older female relatives will have a fluffy scarf(?) and big wig 😃 Any ex ‘Flower Power’ men in the family for the trousers? 🕺

Thanks. We bought an afro wig since nobody has anything like that. Only older relatives around are my parents and they don’t have anything we need. I found the right pants and some iron on lilies on Amazon though. Feather boas are a common accessory at costume shops around here too. I bought one, but it sheds worse than an anxiety-ridden parrot. He wore it once for a few minutes and it already looks thread bare in sections. So, it’s all about the building now.

Be careful if you’re using superglue for sticking the feathers back on the Boa (a name I couldn’t remember for the life of me) or you could go as a tarred and feathered Dad 😂

I’m just letting the cheap one fall apart and I’ll get a better one this coming month. If the ex-wife takes him to a Halloween thing, I’ll give her the cheaper one to preserve the good one for the actual holiday.

Wow! What a project, and good on you for tackling it. I would have thrown up my hands. I almost did when my son told me one year he wanted to go as a grasshopper. Luckily I am handy with a sewing machine.

He’s definitely putting a lot of faith in my abilities. Got the cravat brooch done recently too.
