What I’ve Learned After 3 Years…

Another big guest post where I stumble through my 3 years of author experience. Think that makes me ancient in indie author years.

About Charles Yallowitz

Charles E. Yallowitz was born, raised, and educated in New York. Then he spent a few years in Florida, realized his fear of alligators, and moved back to the Empire State. When he isn't working hard on his epic fantasy stories, Charles can be found cooking or going on whatever adventure his son has planned for the day. 'Legends of Windemere' is his first series, but it certainly won't be his last.

Great post, Charles. I have to agree, taking breaks is a big productivity booster. I took all of December off, including my blog, which I wrote all my posts back in November. It’s liberating when doing such a think knowing it helps counteract burnout–something I have yet to experience since having started writing professionally.

As for the social scene, I agree with you as well. I find Twitter and a Facebook page useful. All the other platforms do not seem to be as popular as those two.

BTW, congrats on your latest book. Good job!

    • Thanks for the congrats.

I’m still trying to figure out the break schedule. December didn’t work out too well because I had the book release and things were rather crazy for the holidays. This year might be a continuation of that, so I’m putting ‘rest’ on my 2017 goals. πŸ˜€ Seriously, it’s like I’m trying to balance two lives that require equal amounts of rest and attention.

I know a lot of people who use Google+, but I’ve never figured it out. Some days I wonder if social media is extremely useful anyway. Mostly because many people have been ‘trained’ to simply hit like and move on. For example, Twitter made that heart button a while back and I see that popping up a lot more than reblogs now, which is rather confusing.
