Ichabod Brooks & the City of Beasts Cover Poll

So I’m looking for some opinions.  I’m going through 99designs to get a cover for the summer release and I’ve created a poll to see what people think.  Keep in mind that these designs are not entirely final.  Some fine-tuning will be done since the site gives only 4 days for an artist to enter an idea.

Please click on the link and take a look:

Please vote and give your feedback on the poll.  You can still comment here, but I don’t think the artist will notice anything put on the blog.  Thanks in advance and I have until Thursday to choose a finalist.

About Charles Yallowitz

Charles E. Yallowitz was born, raised, and educated in New York. Then he spent a few years in Florida, realized his fear of alligators, and moved back to the Empire State. When he isn't working hard on his epic fantasy stories, Charles can be found cooking or going on whatever adventure his son has planned for the day. 'Legends of Windemere' is his first series, but it certainly won't be his last.

  1. I did it. Hope it helps.

  2. I left comments and voted on the third one in the end. Although I loved the dark fantasy element of the second one, I particularly liked the clean simplicity of the third cover and the shadow behind the characters – a mystery which drew me in from the beginning.

  4. So, what if we like different elements of each option? Ant chance of mixing them together? Probably not, but think the characters drawn on #14 would look great with the awesome background of #15. The characters on 15 are substandard, pasted from real pictures.

  5. I got a new modem today, and now half the websites I try to open don’t open. Including this one. If I get this working, I’ll try to remember to come back for a look… 🙂

  6. Done! I like the sepia tones of the first one, with the clean look of the third one a close second. The second one is lovely, but dark. I’ve heard that dark covers sell poorly as a rule, and I, for one, stick to that rule 🙂

    • Interesting rule. I see a lot of dark covers in fantasy, but there’s always something very bright on it. Kind of like seeing a shiny object in a sewer grating. You’re drawn to it. Though I do think a brighter cover would have a better shot. Guess we’ll see what happens on Thursday. I’ll do the poll and then sit down to think everything over.
