So . . . things have taken a turn around here. I’m just going to list from mildest to worst:
- Saturday is supposed to rain and/or snow, which means the trip to the zoo is out. Hoping the little guy doesn’t remember the promise.
- Sunday is the NYC Marathon, which means traffic will be terrible going anywhere near the city. So zoo won’t happen that day either. Maybe next weekend.
- My parents left last Wednesday for a 3 week Asian cruise. They returned this morning because my mom broke her elbow and needs surgery. Needless to say everyone is both worried and a little annoyed. So things are going to be thrown out of whack for a while, especially since someone keeps forgetting she’s down a limb. I’ll be helping my dad keep an eye on her. Thankfully, I’m still planning on doing all the cooking for next week and a half. Longer if need be. Honestly, I think this will only be a day or two of figuring things out before we get into a system. There’s plenty on the DVR and on her Kindle to keep her out of trouble.
This does mean that my editing and online activity will be in a state of flux. It could remain untouched or it could lead to days where I’m ‘missing’ until the night. I will admit that I got used to typing on the big desktop. Now I can realize just how tiny my laptop’s screen really is. I start my final edits for ‘Curse of the Dark Wind’ next week, so I hope to finish that by the end of November. When will it be released? I’ll let you know since there are delays on every front just like ‘The Compass Key’.
So, that’s where I’m standing now. I think. I got new glasses yesterday for the first time in over 5 years. I’m still not used to everything being so bright and clear. Transition lenses too, which are cool. Guess that’s the highlight of the week until Halloween where I escort ‘Olaf’ around the neighborhood.

Oh dear. Hope your Mom is well again soon, Charles!

Thanks. I think the hardest part for her is getting used to not doing things for herself.

I can relate to that, Charles 🙂 Good luck with that one…

Think I’ll need. Another ‘event’ has now occurred. This simply isn’t a good week for my family.

Don’t count on the little guy not remembering. They have memories like elephants! (Except on things they actually need to remember like where he left his left shoe) LOL!

Well, he went to the petting zoo this week with his class. That might appease him since I haven’t mentioned the big zoo since then.

Oh, Charles! Sounds like a lot of adjustment necessary. Give your mom our best for a speedy recovery. Maybe the glasses will help the edits go more smoothly 🙂

Thanks. Though I think the edits are going to be a bumpy road for the next few days. Chaos will reign for a while.

crap always happens at the same time, eh? I was going to post ‘I do not think it means what you think it means’ before I put my glasses on and saw it was a subtitle below the picture, LOVE that movie. I could quote most of it hohowhat! Sorry to hear your trials and hope all will right itself soon, Charles, keep smiling, you’re in our thoughts.

Sometimes you just have to take a break for life. It always intrudes at inappropriate times, because we don’t make time for it. Do whatever you need to. We’ll still be here.

Thanks. Though I’m kind of just on call right now. Gives me enough time to finish the project I’m on now. I guess it’s a plus side that all I’m doing is editing for the next month.

I feel bad for your mom. It seems like the best laid plans so often go awry and out of our control.

Yeah. Thankfully, the doctor in Bangkok got her an appointment for tomorrow and confirmed insurance information with someone here. So there’s no search for a doctor/surgeon. I’ve tried to give her a bright side, which is getting to see the little guy running around in his Olaf costume. Though now we have another crisis that I can’t go into on here.

Sounds like a household in turmoil, but overall you seem to be in pretty good spirits…at least that is the impression I’m getting. Sorry to hear about your mother, that is a tough one. I hope everything turns out okay. Take care my friend.

Thanks. I’m betting on a few days of us getting used to things. Tomorrow is Halloween, so I’ll have my hands full with the little guy. That gives us the weekend to fall into a routine.

My mom went to Austraila for six weeks and broke her arm there. She didn’t come home though which we all appreciated. Sorry for your mom’s arm.

Sorry to hear about that. Really sucks getting hurt or sick on a vacation.

Yeah. Sadly, they didn’t even make a week before the accident. Don’t think Japan was on the list either.

That stinks. 😦 I hate when trips fall through.

They got a refund for everything they missed, which is a plus. So they might try again another time. Definitely throws the next two weeks off for everyone around here.

Might have a few. Have to remember to bring those out of hiding once the kid leaves for school.

My daughter wanted to be Olaf, but when it came to decide, she picked her love, Mario. She had a great big bushy mustache. A few boys appeared a little jealous of her costume idea.

My son has part of a Mario costume, so I keep hoping it’ll be chosen at some point. Hope your daughter has a fun Halloween.

If it’s not a soaking downpour, you should take him anyhow. The zoo will distract him.

It’s a downpour with some snow. We’re hoping to try again next weekend.
