A fellow fantasy author is doing a Thunderclap promotion and they need to reach 100 supporters by September 25th in order for their campaign to be successful. I hear people wondering what this means and I think I have it figured out:
Thunderclap allows you to create a campaign for a cause, book, or whatever. You choose a deadline and set a goal for supporters like Kickstarter sets a money goal. People can sign up to spread the word on Facebook, Twitter, and Tumblr. You don’t need all 3 to participate. The messages don’t go live until the deadline and only if you reached your stated target. For example, Sacred Bond is trying for 100 supporters. If they get 100+ then the day that their campaign ends, all of the promised social media sites will send that message. Think of it as loading a promotional Roman Candle.
So CLICK ON THE PICTURE BELOW and give a fellow author a helping hand. Feel free to reblog this too and help spread the word to reach that 100 supporter.

It’s funny – I was looking at Thunderclap the other day – I think Sarah Cradit has used it. I’m anxious to hear how you do with it. Looks like a win all the way around – unless there are so many that it gets lost in the mess

That’s what I’m wondering about. It seems you get more exposure if you pay money, but I’m going to try by depending on friends supporting and spreading the word. I have 6 people so far, which is good for a first day. I guess more people will join as I promote.
This one is really close to completion too, which is great for the authors who do a lot of promo work every day.

By saying yes to the app, I allow Thunderclap to update my profile…? Do all apps say that?

I believe it means that it can make the post if the goal is met by the deadline. All apps that I’ve used say that.

It also said it could post on my behalf, so I thought this was something else.

I saw that too. I haven’t seen it do anything yet, which is why I think it’s because of how their system works. This way you don’t have to get a notification about the deadline being up and the campaign runs the risk of most people bailing after the fact. It’s like scheduling a FB post through Hootsuite, I guess.
