Shadows Over Sheradan

This is a review of Shadows Over Sheradan by Scott Barker:

The world that Scott Barker created is amazing.  I love how he drew me into his world and everything made sense.  There wasn’t a moment where I thought something was stretched beyond my ability to believe, which I think is the sign of a highly talented fantasy author.

The adventure is riveting with clear action scenes and a true sense of peril for the heroes.  Prince Trigarius does come off a little Superman-like with a wide variety of abilities, but there is a surprising level of vulnerability for someone so powerful.  This comes from the connection he shares with the other characters, which you really feel through the book.

The only nitpick that I had with this book is the sudden exposition that is used.  This was mostly in the first act of the book where the characters were being set up.  The scene would be playing out and there would be a sudden jump to a story or explanation.  It created a stuttering of pace for me, which took me some time to adapt to.

I would highly recommend this book for anyone that loves unique worlds, colorful characters (loved G’Kota), and high fantasy adventure.

About Charles Yallowitz

Charles E. Yallowitz was born, raised, and educated in New York. Then he spent a few years in Florida, realized his fear of alligators, and moved back to the Empire State. When he isn't working hard on his epic fantasy stories, Charles can be found cooking or going on whatever adventure his son has planned for the day. 'Legends of Windemere' is his first series, but it certainly won't be his last.
