I have fought with valor the pull to your blog, Charles Yallowitz! Ionia Martin has told me again and again on her blog I should follow you, the writer of a genre I’ve never fallen in love with. Then today Gwen Bristol gives me a peak into one of your books on her blog. And now here I am having read the most interesting “about me” page I’ve ever come across. I’ll be happy to help. I would recommend trying to build hype over the week prior to release. Spoiler free sneak peeks, cover reveal over various blogs, and maybe a character profile or two. A big thing that helps is being approachable and human. You’re the face of your book to some extent. Sorry. Get excited when this topic comes up.

I’m still not sure what I’m doing there. I figured out how to schedule tweets and retweet. Beyond that, I get thwarted by the 140 characters every time.

For someone who writes big novels, I fully agree. Seems 300 pages is now considered gigantic. That was average when I was a kid.

My son is 5, so I’m trying to explain that big books are good. Not sure how I’m doing since he’s still figuring out how to read. He’ll sit there with a pile of his books and ‘read’ through them, but he’s really just memorized the stories.

You and I share some of the same likes. Glad you’re a Firefly fan. Such a shame they didn’t continue it. Even though I’m home a lot, I still don’t have much time to play computer games. Too busy writing, renovating, feeding the animals, putting in crops, harvesting, building projects and fixing things. I sound way busier than I actually am though.

I have to admit that I’ve become a little torn on Firefly because of some of the fans. The whole ‘no criticize or question’ mentality tends to drive me away from things. Still, it would have been interesting to see where the show would have gone. Unless the movie was actually Season 2 and then I’d walk away because my favorite character didn’t make it.
A friend just gave me his old Wii for my son to play with. The kid only wants to run around with the controller and pretend he’s using it on all of his other toys. I have to do the actual playing. Not easy to go from PS2/Gamecube to a Wii. Hard not to let it be a major distraction.
