Sweet Tooth Interlude: Jelly Beans, Twizzlers, Ice Cream

Fears: Spiders, Getting eaten while swimming, Family gatherings (more dread than fear), and a certain actress who will remain nameless because we have no idea why the sight of her sets off my ‘fight/flight’ instinct.

        I may be only 21 but .. Writing is my passion … and changing the way people read books and making them interact with them is a dream of mine. Not just wanting the next chapter, but the next hidden clue to decipher yourself. I’ve too many ideas that I wish I could just make happen sometimes hahaha

        but it takes good work, and a lot of effort to perfect my ideas so they’re executable in the proper manner.

        You definitely sound passionate about writing and creating almost a new sub-genre of fiction. I’ve been wanting to be a writer since I was 15 and I’m 32 now. My website is a symbol of me finally getting fed up with playing the traditional game and going for the dream.         Thanks. I’m plugging away over here. Finishing up a non-fantasy drama novella tomorrow just to see if I can write out of my comfort area. Then, it’s back to editing my fourth novel next week. 🙂

        I’m going through Kindle, Nook, and Ipad once I get everything set up for the first book. I was hoping to have the first three books up and running at the same time, but my cover artist is mortal. I’ll be putting thing up in my store once I get them going.

        Well, I’ve been writing my series and planning them out for 17 years. It isn’t so much being rushed as putting the final touches on something that I’ve known for years.

        Before chapter names deal with beginnings, but title wise it appears that the beginning is the end and the end is the beginning. I can’t know for certain without knowing the story. Though it could be a character’s story ends in the first chapter to kick off another character’s story, which ends in the final chapter. This in turn kicks off another character’s story. Like a literary relay. Again, no idea without reading the actual book.

    This all cool but I really love your Teddy Roosevelt quote. Really made me think about my efforts as a writer. Some of my book club members are REALLY hard on the authors (there are over 400 members, twenty six were present last night), to the point of making me cringe…yet not one (I found out last night) has EVER written or published a book! They still don’t know that I have. It is not that I don’t have a backbone, but many use really big words that I can’t define and I like to think that I have a decent vocabulary.

    • Do they tear things down and not find anything positive to say? I never understood that tactic of all negative criticism. I went to a few local writer group meetings. One was all positive, but the rest were all about ‘critical criticism’. Guess that translates to being mean.

        They spend about 50% of the time praising the work and 50% putting it down. There seems to always be about half likers and half dislikers every time. It is just that they describe things in terms that are way over my head. I am thinking about taking a pen and paper and interrupting them to write down their million dollar words so I can come home and look them up.

    The mediator is really good. She will frequently rephrase or paraphrase what the members have said, but in a nicer more constructive way. We are always presented with a well prepared “Discussion” paper, where she asks pertinent questions about the the content and characters, theme and motif, book’s structure, plot and so on. I really do like going. I like expanding my horizons to read other work that I might not have necessarily chosen for myself. It is interesting to hear what the readers have to say, albeit a little scary to think that I would be dissected in that manner.
