Been a while since I wrote one of these on Saturday instead of the night before.  I’m not really sure where to start, especially since so much happened.  Maybe I should just go day-by-day:

Halloween

I spent most of it sitting at home writing part of the final War of Nytefall battle.  Keep in mind that Eulogy won’t be published for over a year, but I was doing so well this year that I decided to finish everything off while I was on a roll.  Anyway, I got my son around mid/late afternoon.  We went trick-or-treating, but only to houses with bowls or boxes left out.  Still got a nice haul.  It was about the same size as last year, which he was very happy about.  Sadly, we also had to do homework while we ate dinner because of a project we didn’t notice.  It was reading and we picked 3 poems to do.  I read ‘The Raven’, ‘Jabberwocky’, and ‘The Tyger’ with him before we watched ‘Gremlins’.  Pizza was for dinner and a cartoon or two before he fell asleep, so he got to stay overnight.

Sunday

Did Dunkin Donuts with my son before I dropped him off with his mom.  I tried a Ghost Pepper Donut, which was surprisingly good.  Just enough of a kick to be noticed and not overpower the sweet.  The rest of the day was spent writing and watching ‘The Slayers’.  I got up to the final chapter of Eulogy at this point, but I was going a little slow, so I couldn’t dive into it.  Been very sleepy since the weather got colder.

Monday

Work!  We’re heading into the end of the quarter, so things have been getting a little chaotic.  Not sure I’ve explained this, but I work a lot in the Testing Center of the school, which is where kids who need accommodations go if they want.  Due to limited space, we have to go by reservations and things get pretty hairy.  All problems have worked themselves out though, but it can be slightly stressful when I’m trying to sort all of the requests and tests.  This is a big reason I get so tired by the end of the day and don’t stay near a computer once I’m home.

After work, I got to have my son for a few hours as usual.  It wasn’t the typical Monday outing with dinner and cartoons.  We had a lot of homework to do, which he wasn’t very happy about.  We got through it though and he got everything done before his quarter ended on Friday.  I know what to look out for next quarter too, so we won’t have any sudden rushes.

Tuesday

Election Day!  That’s enough of that since I had virtual meetings and training for school.  I had enough time before and after to finish writing War of Nytefall: Eulogy, which means I’m sort of without a project.  More on that later.  This is also where the bleeding from the title comes in:

Simple version:  I was shaving and sneezed while the straightedge razor was on my sideburns.  My head moved aside while the razor stayed in place, so I sliced my right earlobe.  So much blood and even paper towels weren’t helping.  Genius that I am, I finished shaving and then had to get help bandaging it.  That was the rest of my night too.  Watching ‘The Slayers’ while trying to ignore the itchy pain in my ear and repeatedly checking for seeping.  Yum!

Wednesday and Thursday

There is anything to report on these days because they were work with nothing really noteworthy here.  I finished blog posts for January and began looking at what I have ready for writing next.  My choices were The Longbow of Ichabod Brooks and Do I Need to Use a Dragon? (Fantasy Writing Tips). I made my decision, which we’ll get to in a bit.

Friday

Work!  End of week!  There were some work shenanigans and situations that were scheduling-based.  The real story of this day was hitting Happy Hour with coworkers afterwards.  I really need that type of outing after the rough week and before one that looks rather busy.  Tried a bunch of Mule varieties, which involve ginger beer and being in a metal cup.  Didn’t get to try all of the ones I wanted before the discount period ended, but that’s how it goes.  Got pizza before heading home (I wasn’t the one driving) and then went to bed after talking to my son.  That was really it for that day even though I had hoped to do more.

The Future

This coming week is the end of the quarter, so work will be busy.  I’ve got more training on two days as well.  My son will be here and needing help with school.  Wednesday is Veteran’s Day, which we both have off.  I’ve already promised video games will be played on that day.  Need to pick up some motion sickness pills because my son causes the camera in LEGO Harry Potter to go everywhere.  Got the entire Mega Man X series as well.  8 games for $31?  That’s great even though I’ve heard 5-8 aren’t very good.  It’s going to really be a parenting/working week.

As far as writing goes, I think I’m going to start on Do I Need to Use a Dragon? (Fantasy Writing Tips) this afternoon.  I keep avoiding it because I’m nervous about writing something that is kind of non-fiction and has me as a character.  Mixed signals on if people think this is a good idea isn’t helping.  I might post the first part on the 17th since I’m out of Teaser Tuesday things as of this coming week.  Not sure what to do about that day, which is a post for tomorrow that I hope gets some responses.

I’ll be doing more outlining for a few books as time moves on, but I should get this one off the docket.  It will clear my head enough that I can tackle either Ichabod Brooks or the next Bedlam book in a better mindset.  I won’t be killing myself on things since I have enough books written to publish either 3 next year or 2 next year then 1 in 2022.  Hope the world is still around by that time.

One thing I’m still trying to figure out is if I should use future stories as examples in the tip book as well as stuff I published.  Before anyone says anything, I can’t use other author’s works without causing legal issues.  Not enough public domain fantasy for me to work with, so I’ve only got my own stuff.  That’s how it goes though.

Goals of the week:

1. Parenting the munchkin.
2. Video games with my mini-me.
3. Work and training.
4. Do I Need to Use a Dragon? sections.  With this being blog-style entries that I’ve already done notes on, I can probably work on this at night without a problem.
5. A few outlines when I have free periods.
6. Finish watching ‘The Slayers’.  Start watching . . . the other set of ‘Slayers’ episodes?  I don’t know.  Maybe ‘Yu Yu Hakusho’?  Think it’s time to wrap this up.
