Now that War of Nytefall: Ravenous has been released, it’s time to promote. That’s hard to do these days since you need word of mouth. I’ve been thinking really hard on what I can do since I already made the ‘book is live’ post. I figure now is the perfect time to do some interaction. These are questions that relate to some of the themes of the book, which might throw readers off. After all, isn’t this just a vampire action adventure in a magical world? Well, I’ve gone into some heavy topics throughout this series and this book is going the deepest.
- What are your thoughts on grief?
- How far do you go to survive and escape a horrible situation?
- What is the scariest thing about addiction?
Yeah. This isn’t all battles and humor. I mean, I have those too, but I really dove into the concepts of grief, addiction, and desperation. Not enough that they consume everything, but one character has an emotionally brutal story arc. It was really tough to do this and maintain some of the lighter mood. That’s a plus side about having an ensemble cast. You can have some that are happy and some that are emotionally crushed. They fit together because that’s life. People, even friends and family, aren’t always in the same emotional place and it’s about perceiving how those around us are doing. Sadly, some characters aren’t very good at that. Want to know what I mean?
Charles, you got my attention with it’s a vampire action adventure. I love vampire stories/movies. And your psychological questions interest me. I think it’s time to read your book! Congratulations on the release. 📚🎶 Christine

Thanks. This is the 5th of the series, but it’s definitely the one that starts the deeper stuff. It was kind of light at the start, but I figure that’s the best way to go. Ease into the heavy.

OMG…Charles! I started reading the Prologue and couldn’t stop. It’s a page turner! Because this is your 5th book, I don’t know the characters that well. Is there a character list you can send me? cerobinson39@cox.net.
So far, I like all the characters distinct voices, emotions and places in the story. The beginning was light and grabbed my interest…then all hell broke loose! Great writing! 📚🎶 Christine

Glad you’re enjoying it. There are character posts from when the series started. I don’t have an official list though.

I tried to find a search that would collect all of them, but nothing worked. I’ve done a lot of origin information here, so it was hard to narrow it down.

Thanks for trying, Charles. I’ll do a short ID bio of the characters in this book to keep them straight. 📚🎶Christine

Hope it helps. I do my best to make it possible for each book to exist on their own legs with some connections. It’s just really hard to pull off.

You pull it off very nicely. I wasn’t lost in the beginning. It was like a new story. That’s good writing. 💛👭

My thoughts on grief is I have had plenty in my time and can spot a phony grief ARC a mile away. Done well it is fine. Done poorly. and I’m gone.
To survive and escape a horrible situation you go as far as your mind and body will let you.
The scariest thing about addiction is the loss of personal control over the situation.

Curious about what signs there are for a phony grief arc.

Pulling hair, clothes, wringing hands and other simple outward tropes.

Those do have to come alongside bigger things. Alone, they aren’t enough.
