Lurking and listening
A shadow within the darkness
Or a smiling face
Sitting across the table
Masters of secrets
Both their own and others
Essential to a cause
And those who rule
Some are loyal
While others have no heart
Following money or excitement
Yet all ply the same trade
The spotlight is shunned
Wearing a shroud of mystery
That keeps them safe
And distant
(I tried to make this one work, but ran into a problem. WordPress seems to hate me hitting spacebar when I do a Shift+Enter to create stanzas. I have to do another Shift+Enter then go back to add the spaces to the sentence. Really frustrating and makes it hard to maintain the flow. Sorry . . . Check out War of Nytefall: Rivalry.)
I’m sorry that formatting was such a pain, Charles. The poem is great and has a lovely shape. Reminds me of a dagger.
I remember Spy vs. Spy back when I read Mad Magazine.

Thanks. I’m going to play around to find a way to solve the issue. It could be keeping a shift+enter space at the bottom or something.

You could do in Word and then copy into WP. Not sure it would help but I have solved formatting problems that way. Enjoyed the poem, Charles

It might. I’ll give it a shot.

John is correct, Charles – I use Libre Office the same way.
(BTW, you can select, highlight and do a center justify using the WP Editor)

Thanks. It’s the stanza break that throws things off. I’ll give the ideas a try.

WordPress has been really finicky lately. Sorry about your formatting issues. But I loved the poem.
