To be honest, these posts usually don’t get a lot of attention. Yet, I’m finding myself struggling, so what do I have to lose? I’m trying to come up with posts for April, but there’s a catch:
They have to connect to War of Nytefall: Rivalry in order to help hype the new book.
So, the topics can involve vampires, specific characters, fantasy, the series, or writing in general. I can use the book as an example. This isn’t going to be easy since people haven’t read the book, but it’s worth a shot.
I have confidence that you will pull it off.

1. How to pick names of locations. How much can you get away with changing letters of common words?
2. 10 fun facts you didn’t know about vampires.
3. Interview with a vampire.
4. What the average vampire packs when traveling.
5. What astrological sign is your protag? Mine’s the blood moon and here’s why.
6. A DND breakdown of each of the classes in War of Nytefall.
7. Worldbuilding: should you have different days, planetary cycles, weather patterns, etc?
8. Can vampires cast spells?
9. How a good fight can get you through writer’s block, with examples.
10. Write a faux dating lineup with three main characters as potential choices.

Thanks. I’ve used a few of those, but most of the others should work. With 9, do you mean a fight scene or internal battling with the characters?

I mean that, when writing and experiencing writer’s block, you (the author) suggest writing a battle scene.
I haven’t read your books, but think that advice might help -and might give you a chance to throw in a few scenes.

I can try it. Action scenes are big pieces of my story, so they’re kind of part of the journey. Do battle scenes really help with writers block?

😀 You may be asking the wrong person. I think I heard that at a writer’s conference.

I’ll have to look it up. Honestly, the advice makes me think the person looks at battle scenes as simple. I mean, it has a slightly negative context. Could be wrong there though.

No…. I don’t think they were. I think it was a legitimate piece of advice.
In retrospect, the author may have advised just writing the characters into a conflict intentionally.

Okay. Think I get it now. See what I can do there.

Definitely some fun ones.

That’s a great list. I’ll assist in the interview with a vampire part. I don’t do promo in each post. You should save some for April as it comes posts. I heard you make a mean vodka sauce. Maybe you’d like to share a recipe. I talk about bread and things on my site.

I don’t think I’m going to do the interview outside of the Lisa one. I’ve noticed that doing interviews on my own blog never gets anywhere. Hard to do it myself too since I don’t know what questions should be asked. The vodka sauce recipe could work for a Sunday thing. April is going to be a debut month for a book, so I don’t know if I can get those two to fit.

I’ve done a few of those. To be honest, they never seem to work for most of my characters.

Chelsea’s list is so good!
I was always curious about how you come up with names for your characters. I can’t recall off the top of my head if you’ve written a post about that.

I can do that one. I’m putting a week in late April towards location names though.

You can do this, Charles.

You’re welcome, Charles. And yes, a little help doesn’t hurt.

In my opinion, you can never go wrong with character interviews or research posts. What about actors you see playing the characters? Music that inspired the story or that you could see played if this was made into a movie. Create a map of the land and discuss what’s significant with the areas.
Sorry. Without knowing the content, I’m kind of flying blind. But I have every confidence in you!

I’ve found that character interviews are hit and miss. Most people don’t interact with them, so it’s me and the same three people in the comments. I’m always iffy on the actor thing, but I can try. Haven’t done one in a long time and it was my first series. Could be fun . . . Which actors and actresses are popular now?

You’re asking the wrong girl. My favorite movie is Casablanca.
I am a Marvel fan. Probably couldn’t go wrong with any of the Avengers.

This might be tougher than I thought.

How far do you go into worldbuilding? Like do you know the moon cycles? Seasons? Any new ones? Additional days in the calendar? Animals? Different races? Etc.

Thanks. I’ve touched on a lot of those, but world building seems to be a popular topic.
