Yom Kippur is Here . . . And I’m Not?

So, today is Yom Kippur, which is the Jewish day of fasting.  That means I stopped eating when the sun went down yesterday and won’t eat again until it goes down tonight.  Hence, the music video here.  Anyway, I typically avoid strenuous activity and focus on a video game to let the hours slip by.  Might be tougher this year because it’s been a long week and I have to travel mid-afternoon.  At least I’m not the one driving.

Computer

The sound issue is getting worse and the mouse is acting funny until I get the speakers to believe.  Definitely seems internal and not software.  I might have to send it in or trade it in next week.  Writing this post on Thursday, so I don’t know what Friday will bring.  Either way, this is getting frustrating and I’d like to hold out until I get War of Nytefall written.

(ADD ON: Friday brought an offer for express mailing since the laptop is getting even worse.  So, I send it out on Monday and hopefully get it back by the end of the week, which means very little progress.  I’ll be trying to claim the communal desktop during the day, but that still limits my progress since I can’t really use it at night.  Not unless I let all the TV stuff build up.  At least it isn’t happening near a book release this time.)

War of Nytefall

Not much to report here since it’s going smoothly.  I’m altering the outline as I go to adjust for character changes.  The supporting cast isn’t getting as much attention as I was hoping, so I’m easing them in.  It’s really 3 characters that have only had 1-2 scenes each.  Maybe this book isn’t where they shine.  I have gotten through the halfway mark, so hopefully I can finish in 2 weeks.

Bedlam

I’m still trying to decide on what to do.  Jon who does the cover art pointed out that it might be better for me to hold off since I’m starting a new series next year.  Yet, I do have Protecting Bedlam and Derailing Bedlam written.  Maybe I can edit them and put them out as a double-header for $2.99?  It’s tough to figure out since I put the first one on the blog and this series tends to go under the radar.  I’d only be paying for cover art and that’s still tough to do at this time.  Maybe giving Cassidy and Lloyd the year off in 2018 would be best?

Raven’s Dawn

The third volume of my attempt at a horror series will be starting tomorrow.  Throughout October, a section will go live every midnight and we’ll see what Dawn Addison has been up to.  Hopefully people enjoy this like last year and the year before.  It’s fun to write Dawn and maybe I’ll figure out a 4th book for her.  Still considering doing the 4th one as a finale and then see about putting it on Amazon as a 4 book set.  I’ll stumble over that bridge when I come to it.  For now, enjoy the creepiness and fun for October.

November Posts

Finished these up . . . That’s it for that.

I’m not really sure what else to talk about here.  It was a long week that is a blur to me because it felt like it was all writing, stress, and personal drama.  That third thing seems to show up time and time again.  Just once I’d love a week without someone throwing a tantrum or setting me off or anything that irks me too much to focus.  I’m exhausted both physically and mentally since it’s been like this all year.  Not to mention, I’m still not sleeping well even with the sleep apnea mouthpiece.  My sleep ranges from 3.5-7 hours, which is crazy.  The unexpected heat doesn’t help for this week.

So, what’s the goals for this week?

  1. Continue writing War of Nytefall.
  2. Possibly settle computer issues, which might undo #1.
  3. Read more ‘Black Cat’ manga.
  4. Survive fasting with my sanity intact.
  5. Do whatever it is I’m forgetting to do.

About Charles Yallowitz

Charles E. Yallowitz was born, raised, and educated in New York. Then he spent a few years in Florida, realized his fear of alligators, and moved back to the Empire State. When he isn't working hard on his epic fantasy stories, Charles can be found cooking or going on whatever adventure his son has planned for the day. 'Legends of Windemere' is his first series, but it certainly won't be his last.

  1. Hope already being so stressed won’t make the day of fasting even more difficult than it otherwise would be, and that the sorting/exchanging of your computer doesn’t leave you without it for too long.

  2. Good luck on the fast. Of course, you can’t read this until after sundown. Looking forward to Dawn.

  3. Looks like some serious effort despite the handicap with the computer and fasting. In a show of support, I’ll eat enough for both of us.

  4. Sounds like you have another touch week coming up. Hopefully they can get your laptop fixed right this time.
