Well, people wanted it, so Monster Maker is going to be returning in October. I’m thinking having it every Wednesday and using Monday to come up with something that promotes Path of the Traitors. Friday will connect to the poll below.
Anyway, this is an October event that involves me getting strange, unreal words and turn them into monsters or magical items/relics. You can see some examples HERE. I might spread it to more than once a week if I get a lot of volunteers. The guidelines are simple:
- Give no more than 3 words.
- Use nonexistent words instead of things that actually exist.
- Have fun with it.
Thankfully, I’ve done this enough to get the kinks out of the system. So, I won’t get 12 lists with 10 words each or a bunch of animals that already exist. I mean, a gorilla is a gorilla even in Windemere.
Finally, below is a large poll for the Friday post that will highlight 4 Windemere monsters for a behind-the-scenes stuff. I didn’t include dragons and drites because I’m sure that would win and I’ve talked about them before. I did this in 2015 for 2 a week too, so I removed the winners of that ‘Windemere Monsters’ one too. Here we go and I hope people vote even if they don’t have words for Monster Maker.

Actually, I just realized the Snake Fiend was supposed to be deleted. Really wish you could edit and reuse old polls, but get rid of the old results.

I voted for multiple monsters. New monsters, Hmmm… mantiscles, Barbary shrimp, cave duckers.

I’ve got Barbary lions and apes. No shrimp, which sounds more Jewish than I intended.

Forgot about the sheep. The lions are just lions. Seems a bunch of animals from the Barbary coast have it as an alternative name.

Sorry Charles I’ve just checked – Tatti-boggles and Wurzels are Scottish and Cornish names for Scarecrows.

No. It’s all fair. I just find it funny. I’ll probably take the top 4 on the list when I sit down to make the posts over the weekend.

I only voted for one monster, because I hit the vote button before realizing I could vote for more than one, and it jus tells me it’s already counted my vote if I try voting for more.

No problem… On both counts. Regarding the poll though, I’m actually impressed JAWS (my screen reader) even let me vote. It often won’t let me do fun things like that.

Maybe, though I doubt it, since they like to make us pay for updates. It let me vote though, and nobody’s asking me for money to have it let me do it, so I’m not going to worry too much about why.
