Goal Post: I Swear I’m Falling Literally Falling Apart

Progress has been made on various fronts, including cooking a new dish that didn’t make anyone sick.  Skillet Hash was interesting, but I think it works a bit better as a side dish than a main course.  Mostly because it didn’t mix well with the salad and it’s starch redundant to put it with potatoes or rice.  Are starches still a thing?  I haven’t heard much about them ever since gluten and trans fats showed up.  Whatever, I’m still planning on my pizza reward next week.  Before anyone judges, I put it off after I finished writing Legends of Windemere: Baron of the Forgotten Age, put it off after I published Chasing Bedlam (GET IT FOR 99 CENTS), and put it off a few more times for various reasons.  Twice that reason was because people bought pizza earlier in the week and foiled my plans.  This is what happens when I write this post on an empty stomach . . . or a full stomach.

Where to start with the progress?  Well, I have 4 chapters of Protecting Bedlam to go and I hope to finish by Wednesday.  If promises hold then I get to write throughout the weekend too.  I’ll be happy getting even one chapter out of the way considering what else is coming down the pipeline.  I contacted a cover artist about The Life & Times of Ichabod Brooks, so I’m looking forward to getting something there.  I also added ‘THE’ since it started sounding lazy without.  I just finished implementing the beta reader suggestions.  Not everything, but the stuff I agreed with.  It was fun for my first time really using beta readers.

Jason got back to me with a nearly done cover for Legends of Windemere: Ritual of the Lost Lamb.  I’m still nervous about this one, so I might do an editing run before I release the book.  At first, I didn’t think I’d have the time, but I might have been wrong.  Jason is aiming to get the cover to me by the end of next week as long as things run smoothly.  I would release it over that weekend, but there’s a few problems. Saturday is busy, Sunday has a birthday party, and then the dentist on Monday, which could knock my mood down for the week.  I might set up some advance promos that involve interviews, but the release date might be pushed to May 12th to make sure I don’t have to battle against other events.  Feel free to tell me what you think about this idea.

Going back to Ichabod, I’m trying to figure out pricing for an 11 book collection.  I’m also trying to decide on if I want to do more than free promos.  Was thinking of writing up some promos next week for Goodkindles and AskDavid.com.  I have time since it won’t come out until July 1st, but each one needs its own blurb.  It’s really hard to come up with those for a single book, but I’m having trouble with the collection idea.  Think I’ll take a little time to investigate and see what others did.  I saw a lot of ‘brief explanation and title list’ posts on AskDavid.com.  If I’m lucky, I can get things set up and do a test next Thursday with an expendable post.

Not much else is going on here.  I’m working hard and trying to keep my spirits up, which is becoming more difficult by the day.  This is a fairly short post too since it was business usual.  One of the rabbits is back, which is cool.  My son and I got to watch a trio of ducks fly around the block for a few minutes when he got off the bus.  Maybe I’ll take him to the pond when the weather gets warmer and there’s a higher chance of seeing ducklings.  I’m always being told to make this big, ‘memorable’ trips with him, but sometimes it’s the smaller things that create memories.  I don’t have to make everything a grand event for him to have a fun childhood.  Heck, most of my fondest childhood memories involve running around the yard with toy weapons and fighting monsters.

So, what’s for next week?

  1. Finish writing Protecting Bedlam.
  2. Start editing Legends of Windemere: Ritual of the Lost Lamb.
  3. Start prepping for book release.
  4. Pray my teeth aren’t as bad as they sometimes feel.  Damn sensitivity.
  5. Possibly read more Soul Eater if the books come into the library . . .

That’s the other thing I was thinking of.  I’m finishing up ‘Soul Eater’ soon and I’m trying to decide on the next manga series to read.  Considering May looks like editing month (3 novels & Ichabod), I’m thinking of pushing Rurouni Kenshin and One Piece back for the summer.  Especially since One Piece is up to 83 volumes.  So, I’m leaning toward one of my newest favorite animes since Fairy Tail is off the table until my wife catches up on Windemere.  Looking forward to this one:

One Punch Man

About Charles Yallowitz

Charles E. Yallowitz was born, raised, and educated in New York. Then he spent a few years in Florida, realized his fear of alligators, and moved back to the Empire State. When he isn't working hard on his epic fantasy stories, Charles can be found cooking or going on whatever adventure his son has planned for the day. 'Legends of Windemere' is his first series, but it certainly won't be his last.

  5. Sounds like a productive week. I’m going to lose another week, but since there is nothing I can do about it, I’m not going to panic.
