This week was a head spinner for some reason. The heat and humidity definitely did an energy drain. So, I didn’t get as much done as I wanted in terms of writing. It’s a weird sensation to think that there weren’t enough hours in the week, but feeling like time just crawled due to stress. Things went off the rails at one point and, if you can believe it, I’m probably more stressed than I was before. Due to the sensitive nature of the incident, I can’t mention it online. All I can say is that it was bad and the fallout is still going on.
Plus side, the little guy turned 7 on Thursday. We didn’t do too much because it was a school day, but his party is today. I think everything is ready and will probably triple check throughout the day. A morning appointment will help me get out there for gas and a few smaller errands. So tired that the extra push is welcomed. The little guy is excited and already playing with the new toys that came in from family. Pretty sure getting him to bed will a challenge depending on the new stuff he gets. That’s the core of the weekend here, so we’ll see what else happens.
Really nothing else to talk about here. My goals are staying the same due to the summer and I’ve been a homebody worker most of the time. With the weather sucking and the kid in a shorter school day, I can’t do much. It really boils down to a choice between writing and errands, which is why I do only 1-2 chapter sections a day. If I’m lucky, I can finish Chasing Bedlam this week and maybe find some beta readers. That will be tricky since it’s a sequel and I’m learning this is a personal taste story. I might put up a teaser for this book on Tuesday since the character bios are done. That does bring up a question:
Should I bring back Questions 3?
The reason I ask is because it wasn’t doing too well near the end. I had trouble coming up with questions and many people simply responded to the topic instead of the actual questions. I was wondering if putting thought into 3 questions was worth it if so many weren’t touching on them. Maybe I’ll just chop it down to one main question and follow up with two minor ones like why, who, what, etc. Guess I could leave Thursday blank too, but I’d like to having something. Anyway, I have . . . no time to really think about this.
Goals of the week?
- Write and possibly finish Chasing Bedlam.
- Cooking, biking, and hating the weather.
- Go over post topics for September.
- Prepare to see Suicide Squad next weekend.
- Pray something goes in my favor and the current disaster doesn’t get worse.
For anyone who missed it, here is the teaser for the Charms of the Feykin cover:
This week was the same for me, it felt never-ending and yet somehow it flew by to Saturday.

Maybe we’re in a bizarre type of time exclusive to summer. This never seems to happen in the other seasons.

Summer does seem that way. I went to Europe recently on pilgrimage, a week in Rome and a week in Spain, and it was so bizarre the sense of time stopping yet flying at the same time.

Vacation time is its own beast. A week in Rome sounds like a lot of fun.

I’m right there with you. Keep at it, you’re doing a great job. The teaser cover looks great btw. And (speaking of time flying) happy birthday to the little guy!

Thanks. Time is definitely flying with the kid. Always thought the ‘they grow up so quickly’ line was an exaggeration, but it feels so real.

So does that mean Jason is staying on as cover artist? It looks really intriguing.

Yes . . . Deja Vu?

Have we had this discussion before?

Perhaps. I’ll wait for a third time and then we’ll know something is wrong with the Matrix.

I personally didn’t care for questions 3, it didn’t interest me.

Getting the feeling that people liked it at first and then the novelty wore off. Guess it’s time to toss it out.

Love the cover! Very dynamic!
Hope your son had a great birthday! Seven is such a fun age. What toys did he get?
I liked the questions, but I’m okay with whatever you decide. I understand the difficulty in coming up with questions.

He had a lot of fun and made out with a bunch of toys. A wide variety too and we spent his gift cards yesterday to get books, a remote control Thomas train, Zootopia plushes, Wild Kratts toys, and a bobble-head Deadpool.
I guess I’ll keep it retired until I start promoting the next book. I can gear it towards that, but it means I have no Thursday plans without it.

What do you mean you toddler is 7? This is not allowed. Please inform him that I’ve said so.

He sort of agrees. Mostly because he wants to skip to 8 and get taller.
